Maybe the slackers and grammar ***** need to take a vacation to a country where few people speak english, get out of the all inclusive resort and stumble around trying to use their bad grammatical excuse for whichever native language it is and be laughed at by the locals there to see how it can be. I spoke better English than the OP when I was a first-grader in Eastern Europe. What he did wasn't communication, it was genocide. He literally killed all the words. So then I take it youd speak every other language perfectly as well then? The point isnt what YOU spoke well when you were however old its that there are a lot of people in the world were english, or any other language for that matter, isnt their native languages and idiotic grammar ***** such as yourself that consistently bash that instead of just bothering to try to read the post for what it IS...bad english from a non native speaker.... I read his post for what it is, and as terrible as his grammar and spelling are, they are still better than the post's content. Besides, where did you find out that he's a non-native English speaker? Sounds to me like you're operating on an assumption, and whether or not that assumption turns out to be true has no bearing on the fact that I based my judgement on what was presented to me by that person, while you fell back on conjecture as a defense for ignorance. Do I speak every language perfectly? No, just most of them. But the lack of understanding of one doesn't excuse me from knowing the rules and policies of MMOs I wish to play. If it did, I would have long ago left this cesspool for something made by Koreans, whose grindy tendencies are at least justified by a developed work ethic. Actually no its quite obvious that they do not understand english well enough to speak it fluently. The simple fact that Ive actually learned different languages, have friends who are translators as well as having lived in other countries throughout the world...and no I dont mean like Germany and Switzerland. I can see it plainly for what it is. Ive been on forums for years and its always the same thing. So no Id say I have experience with the topic at hand from first hand knowledge of it. But go for it ask the OP if they are a native english speaker and well see whos right.
And as for reading the posts content then take it for what it is rather than the only real comments being towards the bad grammar in it.
But now Im getting way to OT for a thread. Strength isnt measured in numbers but in force of will. For if one motived willful individual stands many will fall around him that are weak.

Coming straight into the game and getting their 300 million + ship blown up like that so soon after subscribing their account, must be a real shock to the system. In real life one of the biggest downfalls of law enforcement is that agencies don't communicate with one another.
I find it incredibly ironic that on the internet, the grammar police don't talk to the definition police.

I enjoy mining, Its nice to make a lot of ISK and enjoy the perks that come along with it. Although I do feel bad for anyone that loses their hulk during Hulkageddon, I also wonder if they actually take the time to think about the risks of mining with a ship that cannot be insured at the price you paid for it. But if you believe you can afford the loss and the risk is worth it, then good luck to you. I however cannot afford a loss like that, I do not fly a Hulk during Hulkageddon. The very first advice I was given in EVE is this. "Don't fly what you cannot afford to replace." This was a harsh reality when I lost my first Raven years ago and was pretty much broke.
But as a miner I've always been cautious. I stay at the computer to watch for anyone trying to can flip or incoming rats. I also don't like to mine where there is a lot of things going on in local. I try to stay away from the hubs unless I'm hauling.
One thing I hear a lot is that you should tank your Hulk. I honestly don't think that this will help in anyway unless your in 0.9 or 1.0 systems due to the quicker response times by concord. (I can be wrong and a Hulk might be tankable, I'm just not going to risk it..) I think that if someone wants to gank you, and your afk or not paying attention, then its going to happen. But if someone pops my covetor, I can replace it with the insurance payout plus some extra from my own EVE wallet. It honestly wont bother me because I understand the risks I take if I mine during this time. This is a game where PVP happens, Empire Space is protected but its not SAFE. So if you take out a ship that you cannot afford to replace, then you should prepare yourself that there is a chance that you might lose that ship.
One thing I like about the Goons is that they actually do something with this game. They make things interesting, and I hope that does not change anytime soon. This is the 5th Hulkageddon, there will probably be a 6th and 7th. You might want them to respect your small world of the game, but since the first day you started playing, the simple rules have always stayed the same. Empire Space does not = Safe Space and don't fly what you cannot afford to replace.
This month I have ran missions, ratted, traded and hauled items and enjoyed every minute of it.. I have also learned a few new things about the game that I wouldn't have had I been mining. (Scanning down sites and such) I also have risking a couple of mining ops where I d scanned a hole heck of a lot, checked people in local and often checked the recent Hulkageddon kills on their website to see where a lot of the action is happening and who I should look out for. (Just about everyone on the top lists have been added to my contacts.)
So yes, I do a lot more then most miners do, but I also enjoy what I do and that's what its all about.
I'm sorry to hear about everyone's losses. Use it as a learning experience and move on. Smaller ships take on larger ones all the time, just watch "Whale Wars." (Which might also be a good name for a Freighter killing event!)
So with that being said, have fun, fly safe and smart. |

As a fellow miner after i read this i would have to agree. keeping your wits about you during H5 is a wise precaution, and the sage advise of "dont fly what you cant replace" is also wise. having said that i would have to agree that i feel that the game mechanics do need some tweeking. even with risits higher than 78% on all catagoies it still doesent change the fact that there just is not much HP to the hulk to take on several determined gankers. now please dont mistake me here, i lost my hulk not they took it from me. i undocked, i flew to that belt, and i diddent get out in time. even though i was in .7 the concord is not a preventive force, but rather more of a slight vengence one. regarless i still feel the hulk could use some tweeking as said earilyer. but also in mho it is WAY to easy to be a ganker as many of you have already pointed out, and other than that it has already been said before. now, going to the origional post, DUDE THE GUY IS TRYING TO EXTORT YOU!!! DONT BE STUPID. this kind of scaming happens, its not ccp's fault here. just send him a email back (or dont) telling him to shove it. |
