Just wondering if anyone knows what's with tech level. I mean it seems to me that the higher the tech level, the better the item. My question is, where can i find higher tech level items, if they are in the game.
Also, is it possible to increase the tech level of an existing item, since they all have the same name.

No, 2nd level hasn't been introduced yet. I imagine the dev team is waiting awhile to see how the level 1's pan out.

tech lvl 2 is here. The Power Diagnostics System 1 is tech level 2.

It was stated in a dev chat a while ago that they were going to introduce new tech levels every 2-3 months. So hopefully tech level 2 will be enabled in less than a month.

Dude, tech lvl 2 is ingame, look up, the Power Diagnostic is tech lvl 2. We came upon about 8 of them.
Let me repeat

relax, having 1 tech II item is not the heralding of the new epoch or anything.
They were probably dropped into the mix because the basic ones weren't powerful enough.
Unless someone can prove me wrong of course, but I'm pretty sure it's the only tech II item available.

It should be fairly obvious that the "tech level 2" on the "Power Diagnostic System 1" is a mistake that needs to be fixed since it says right there in the name "1". Maybe you don't know and I should explain the numbers on the end of the names of most equipment. The number on the end of the name IS the tech level. For instance, Pirahna mark 1, Pirahna mark 2, Pirahna mark 3, Power Diagnostic System 1, Power Diagnostic System 2, etc. They all go from 1 to 5 and that number is the tech level of the item.

Alpha power diag is tech lvl1
power diag 1 is tech lvl2
there are only 4 ( IV ) full power diags in the game at the moment. So Power diag IV is tech lvl 5, and there is no Power Diag V.
This DOES make it an exception to the normal rule you're quoting which is normally correct. Check the item database at tti-nexus.com

"Alpha" is npc drop so it doesn't count. Tech levels on those are alpha, beta, gamma, delta and omega.
Still, you're right, all of the "power management" items only go to IV now and are one level higher than the number indicates. This is not true of the sensor systems I looked at though, they still go to "V" and tech level matches the number. Interestingly, if you look at shield boosters they are ALL tech level 1. Can I make "Large Shild Booster V" now please? =)
