Hello everyone, be warned that my English is not perfect so you may find grammatical errors and spelling errors in the following text. So keep the Grammar ****s at bay. TLDR: We should get JI JOE in space not KEN & BARBIE in space. I dont know if you were like me, but when I was young I didn't play with Ken and Barbie, I played with JI Joe, LEGO, dinosaurs and water guns. I didn't spend 3/4 of my time dressing puppets and taking the tea. I was fighting for the survival of w/e character I imagined at that time. Its the same thing with ambulation and that is what confuse me about the design behind it. Your community is mainly composed of male members, so you give them Ken and Barbie in space. What kind of logic is that? You should give them JI Joe in space, don't you think? How come you are spending a lot of resources and time for a very (VERY) small pourcentage of your community when you could spend it on something the majority of your player base MAY enjoy. I don't know if you people are FPS player or not. But I'm sure you are more of a FPS player than a Barbie pony island adventure player. So for this post not to be a rant let me suggest something. Why not make it just like the current EVE mechanics. There should be two zones in each ambulation area. One null sec and one High sec. The poor quarters and the richs quarters with the market in between. The basic stuff you need to make it interesting; 5 basics weapons: Shotgun, sniper, SMG, grenade and assault rifle. 5 Basics moves: Lean right, lean left, crouch, crawl and sprint. 5 objectives to captures.
Just a suggestion, could be anything else. But you get the point. We are men, we like to PEW PEW. Let me know what you think forum dwellers? (aka: Let the flame war begins!) =================================================

Hi, OP. Non English-guy here, too. Made a long postey and it sounds not always nicey but I'm confusey'd.
I came here in expectance of erotic fanfiction (supported by fanart) driven by heavy hormone fluctuations but then realized it's about some guy being afraid that ambulation turns into Hello Kitty dressing games in space with plenty of suits and funny head-thingies to chose from (I still want a cat-girl dress, plz ._.).
Now I'm stuck wondering which kind of info spawned the following statement:
Quote: Its the same thing with ambulation and that is what confuse me about the design behind it. Your community is mainly composed of male members, so you give them Ken and Barbie in space.
Was there a new dev-blog with pictures full of pink stuff, horses, kitties and other cuteness which causes this fear? And what's so bad about Barbie? She's blonde, slim, naive and has big boobs. Dunno why you'd not like her in a tight Gallentean plastic dress. Or a Minmatar-chain. Around her neck. Crawling behind you. Begging for mercy. I came.
I remember in having an Optimus Prime truck at the age of five (could of course be morphed into the bot form) which was about the size of that big Barbie-holiday-trailer-thing (the one which expands into some kind of crappy house or stable or whatever) and I had lots of fun playing "Transformers kill Barbie and sacrifice Ken to heathen Gods" with girls back then. They never liked it much but that's just because they don't know how to play - everything was serious business for them and had to be done "like adults do". The fact that they were confused, scared and disgusted at my attempts to destroy their pink world, made it even more enjoyable for me. This applies to most polarizing actions/statements and also rings true in EVE for me.
I thus conclude that ambulation needs lots of pink, naive, innocent, cuddly things just to desacrate them while my crew cheers at me.
The success of the expansion is exponential to the amount of hot/cute female avatars (to cater to the male audience) and the ability to make them suffer (to cater to the griefers). Judging by what you read on the forums this covers about 80% of the userbase's needs.
Weirdness aside:
I think CCP is able, above most other current MMO-companies, to create dark, creepy, uneasy atmosphere - be it in space or a station. Dumbing WiS down by making a shooter out of it or just making it depend on stupid mini-games seems rather unswise to me. If you take the time to read the Chronicles or a bit of background story here and there you'll surely come to the conclusion that there's a rich cyberpunkish society feeling behind it and I'd rather see this receiving a platform (besides chat) to act out and experience than run around just shooting people in a mediocre shooter all day (or driving races or whatever). WiS will hopefully not be a game in the game but add into it and enhance the EVE experience. Roleplaying is not for everyone but I'm sure there'll be opportunities to bask in the magnificent EVE-atmosphere, once the expansion hits, regardless of gameplay-preference.
I'm not trying to stop you from voicing concerns but I'd say it's much too early to scream "O noes, they'll ruin EVE's feeling!". I for one totally dig the visuals (including dresses) of the EVE characters and would love to run around in them while insulting random people in Jita 4-4 for being "skanky *****s" or "deluded elitist sons of a Fedo".

mhh I like that. can we do that when we need to go from 1 place to another like from hanger to your room. even people can enter your room and kill you. since your out of your pod, youll have to restart the whole game all over again. no insurrance needed cause theres no pod no clone.
did you see that I was sarcastic ???

Stations should be the same as the security space they're in. The only exception is when someone is warred up against the opposing corp. Say goodbye to station camps. Now you can actually do something when people hide away like cowards.

Op I get what you're going at with the rich district poor district, as it would cater to both sides. However, your concept lacks a purpose. If all it is is just an area where you can shoot people, nobody is going to do it. In this concept, there is no purpose to the shooting areas, other than to be an fps. If I want to play an fps, I'll just play COD or L4D, I'm not going to log on to EVE to do it.
What you need to do with a concept like this is to give it a purpose in the game. So a basic concept for you would be maybe to add something to FW or something like that. As in conquerable stations, that need to be conquered from the inside as well as the outside. So hisec stations would still have the same WiS mechanics, and conquerable stations or POS's or something would be battlegrounds inside for factions to conquer.

Allowing more roleplay options has alot more merit than making a mediocre FPS. The thing being, you can dock in station, minimize eve and play your favorite fps until something interesting happens anyway. And I gaurentee it would be better than anything cobbled together by ccp as a minigame.
The only problem is this. I think I speak for a group of good pvpers. Nasty people with NBSI that would actually be somewhat worrying to run into on the field. I mean we can give you a fight. We live in npc 0.0 where we can pvp without worrying about the sov mess. We pirate in lowsec. Our general goal is the production of as many killmails as possible.
We really hate roleplayers. We view roleplayers who pvp as guys who waste time with googaws with silly posturing instead of the important stuff like ship fiting, combat strategy, how to bait properly, and how to fc. Speaking for a group of hardcore 'baddies' we are diametrically opposed to roleplaying. The less combat oriented players can have that entirely to themselves.
Ironically this is almost a roleplay position in itself.
That leaves the 'good' guys. faction warriors, antiepies, industrials, free run to roleplay. Not much of a cold dark environment. Not really a worry though because most people will take walking in stations as an excuse to run around naked. I know I will.

I played with both Barbie's (and Cindy's) and lego when I was a kid. Not so many dinosaurs, but my parents had a book about the dinos that I liked to read. And how exactly are CCp "giving us Ken and Barbie in space"?
The basic stuff you need to make it interesting; 5 basics weapons: Shotgun, sniper, SMG, grenade and assault rifle. 5 Basics moves: Lean right, lean left, crouch, crawl and sprint. 5 objectives to captures.
There's like... tons of other games for that, also, you forgot the "jump"-move. Could you imagine a Caldari who couldn't jump? That's right, neither could I. I'd also like the weapon Whip for the ÷÷÷h, Amarians?

YOu know you dont really need all of that. All you need is to have the stations decorated in blood and entrails and the slight risk of a rift occuring between New Eden and Hell.
If you have that, then playing Barbie WiS is ok with me.

I continue to be spectacularly uninterested in the CCP "Ken and Barbie" concept, and I'm even less interested in being required to play a FPS every time I want to buy ammo for my ship. How about we compromise and not implement WiS at all?
