I'm able to find these things but not skilled enough to utilize them. Is there a market for these bookmarks?

I don't think there is a market, and I don't really think there can be. The problem is trust. If I buy a bookmark from you how do I know it marks something good? If you let me check before I pay, why would I pay?
An individual (or corp) might try to build a reputation as a trustworthy seller, but that would be hard.

I usually see threads advertising these findings fizzle without any interest: even for the bigger finds like class 6 WHs. I think the trouble is the barriers to entry on scanning are very low compared to the combat/science needs to exploit those resources, such that most that could can already find their own stuff.

beyond those point started above about trust/etc. The time between when you scan it and when it disappears is/can be very short, possibly within the day. Likewise, all during that time, its free fro anyone else to find and exploit. - In essence, any combat related activity involving damage has been 'speed nerfed' to just take 6 times longer with a predetermined outcome coined balance by CCP. |

Edited by: glas mir on 01/07/2009 22:19:42 there is an element of trust, that means these usually don't work out well.
There is no way to confirm the information so the buyer either has to take that risk into the price or pay the seller later, but then the seller needs to price it higher to make up for that risk.
All in all, with the risk and the time spent because it is a weird low volume market, it is more efficient to just use the resource yourself. Hint: train up some skills to really take advantage of your scanning.

Not so much a market, per se, as a team/corporate role. A few probers running around a region looking for goodies while a dedicate utility person(s) comes in, cleans things out, and collects the loot.

Due to the expiration of exploration sites, such a service would need to be provided "on demand". As in, I pay you X isk, and you find me an exploration site. Location of buyer and seller then becomes an issue, as the buyer may want the exploration site to be in a certain area, but you are far away. Will the customer be willing to wait an hour for you to get to the appropriate system and probe down a site? Would the price be worth it?
What if you are not willing to drop everything when the customer comes wanting your business?
I suppose it could work with enough effort. You would probably need to invest your own time to build trust so that people wouldn't worry about you selling them a bad bookmark. IN the end, though, it's probably a bad investment of your time. It would have to be a labor of love.

thanks, all. I guess I need to think about this awhile and see what I can come up with. I have pretty good luck scanning these things down but usually not enough skill to clean em up.
guess I'll just start finding these things and then asking for help to clear them.

in the case of Wh's most people assume you have some friends ready to take them out as soon as they jump through the WH

i offer up WH's that i scan down to people in local, but no one ever wants it because they correctly suspect that i am waiting on the other side to gank them.
