So i can fly up to a BS badly. But i'm strapped for cash 30mil. What would be the best way to get back into missions? I could buy a t1 cruiser and do twos/three's to get isk or i could use my alt to mine, mining barge 3, minmatar industrial 4.
Probably gonna try doing diff faction so i'll just cruise thru some lvl 1's in my punisher/crusader (some gates don't liket2 :P) and get into lvl 2's :P isk and faction should get to BC about the same time...and t2 lazors too probably lol xS
Got a salv stabber setup as well. Now what will isk me faster retreiveer with mammoth hauler or just doing missions?

Unless you're mining in nullsec or wormholes, you'll most definitely make more money running missions. -- Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour. |

I was under the impression that mining veldspar was the best mining isk way, so why worm/lowsec?

Veld is the best thing to mine in "high/low" sec. You will max out at about 10mil/hr if you are lucky with a solo miner in a Hulk (assuming you have a hauling alt and then you aren't solo).
In the same amount of training time you could fit a decent skilled Raven to do LVL4 where you will easily 20 to 40mil depending how fast you can work.
In empire missions are by far the top dog out of the two. To make the same isk per hour mining you have to go to 00 and mine the high end ores. However good luck finding a corp with high end mineral in 00 that will recruit a newer player that doesn't have 10 mil sp's or more.

Here's the trouble, you aren't maxed at mining or fighting... so figures given to you based on what you could make are not going to apply to you right now.
There are skill you can use to improve earning doing missions. If you are going to make mission running your profession start learning those skills and working fighting skills as fast as you can.
If you are going the mining direction it's going to take you down a completely different road with different skills that will greatly enhance your earning there.
My guess is that unless you have mining skills already youÆll probably make more in level 3 missions including salvage. It may also take less time to get to a point where you are making better money in level 4s.
Mainly what's best is going to depend on what you enjoy more. So try each out and decide then stick with what you pick.

Mining: least attention, scales to many, many accounts. If you're going to mine with one barge might as well mine with 10.
Missioning: requires some attention, at least to reload and choose new targets. Does not scale well past two accounts and definitely not past three unless you're an octopus.
And as pointed out, mining skills are only good for one thing -- mining. Mission running gets your SP placed in areas which are far more useful later on.
If I were you I'd just ninja salvage and steal BS wreck loot. That'll probably be your best income at this point. Head to minmatar or amarr mission hubs, insure your stabber and shoot for at least 20M/hour.
And in summary, bigger blobs are the answer. Now what was the question? |

This.
Sometime you dont even have to steal it. Personally I cba with either looting or salvaging. Just ask in local or get some high SP friends to hang around with.

use a cruiser to do level 2s until you can afford a BC to do level 3s, then you will be able to bet a BS in no time (BC doing level 3s is a pretty good income).
Alternately, you won't mine/haul at the same efficiency as doing lvl 3s in a BC until you are at least in a covetor if not a hulk with low-end skills... --

Edited by: Liz Laser on 03/07/2009 16:14:35 As a veteran miner, I'd suggest missions.
Level 2/3s will eventually lead you to level 4s.
Mining leads you to ummm mining.
I mine because it requires less of my attention than missions, thus I can pay more attention to my family.
Unless you share that concern, the iskies (and especially the longterm iskies for L4s) are in missioning.

On a 1:1 account basis mining is pretty much always going to give you less payback. This is because people can manage more accounts mining at once, pay less attention and even walk away while doing it and not risk losing ships.
Less risk/effort = less reward, there's nothing CCP can do about this, since it's players that determine the reward based on the risks / effort. (ie, they'd have to increase both of those to increase reward)

wormholes can have 0.0 ores. lowsec might have 0.0 ores (through scanning)
see here for ore value (just type in current market value at the top and hit CALC) _________________ - "Welcome to EVE, remember to insu *BAAOOM*... Told you, newb."

This will sound like a repeat but...
If you have multiple accounts - 5 Hulks and an Orca - which you can operate all on your own then mining is amazing profit.
If you are solo then go missions. Or if you have a salvaging alt then mission and salvage at the same time. If you had one more account however then 2 hulks and an Orca is good money.

Just out of curiousity, why would you want to pay $90 a month for 6 accounts to run 5 hulks and an orca just to make ISK? For that money you could just buy PLEX and sell it...
Or if you are paying for the accounts with ISK that is 2 billion ISK per month you have to make just to break even...Now I suppose you could earn that much in a day of mining Arkonor, but good luck setting that up without a lot of corp/alliance support. More likely you will be mining veld and looking at over 40 hours of mining and hauling with 5 accounts just to break even!
I mine with two accounts not because it is efficient, but because it is more fun for me.
To answer Fredy's question, I have found the quickest way to make ISK is actually just simple trading. You don't even need a big hauler, just a fast ship with a decent cargo like a destroyer. You can expect to make 10-20% profit off of each trade run from a low price region like Sinq to a high price region like the Forge. So if you start with 5M, after 10 trade runs you will be at 30M, and the profits just keep increasing. |

Assuming you have Retriever (MB3) and Mammoth (Minnie Indy 4)...
1) Train up Ice Harvesting 2) Rig Retriever for at least 4k storage 3) Buy Ice Harvester I's or II's 4) Identify a safe spot in-system; this is where you'll drop your Ice until you get enough to fill the Mammoth 5) Mine; drop at safe spot jetcan; repeat until full 6) Return to station; get Mammoth; pick up Ice 7) Process (no you don't need Ice Processing, but it will help, along with highest Refining & Refinery Efficiency you can achieve) 8) Sell Isotopes
On top of that, you can do some laundry, do the dishes, read a book, whatever whilst mining. Since every is so hell-bent on "time is money", you're multitasking: making money playing the game AND being constructive in real life!! That should keep the "time is money" people happy!! |

Lvl 3's with a Drake can score you quick cash. I'll roll through some missions in less than 5 mins and they'll pay out ~1.3 mill reward, bounties will normally match, you can take another 5 mins to loot/salvage and might be able to match or beat that.
Mining veld in anything less than a T2 Crystaled Huly won't match that.
Level 4's are where the big money is! |

Suicide ganking is the best way to make isk in this game, killing haulers in empire netted me 1.5b isk in 2 evenings, and ratting my sec status back up netted me another 10-15m isk/hour depending on active I ratted. Its a win win situation. |

That sounds fun but I'm sure there is a lot of luck involved. Good luck pulling that off every night! |
