Generally speaking, what do people consider this ship to excel at?
For arguments sake, lets say I have max Gunnery, Drone, Armor Rep related skills, and all other fitting skills. In what situation would I use the Brutix over the Myrmidon?
I absolutely love the look of the Brutix and want to fly it effectively, but it seems as though the Myrm has it beat whether it be PvP or PvE (missions)
Call me a bear, but I care.

Brutix is a big Thorax. 3x magstabs, a big plate, a DC2, and the biggest guns you can strap on.
Basically, it's a Deimos without the huge price tag.

Generally yes, but could also be a no. 2x EM rigs will give you what ... 45% resists on em ? Extenders don't stack, and give as bonuses 1.15x1.15x1.15=1.520875 So, with extenders you get more HP on any resist.
Off-c, extenders are 20m each and resist rigs are 3.5m each. :) --- I smack just for myself.

Yea, I based my point on that, and on that I like balanced resists.
Tho I guess something like 1x EM II and 2x Extender rigs would net you much more buffer if you want to invest a bit... (Something that I'd consider fitting myself... But most people don't want to put 60-80 mil in rigs on a suicide BC, I wonder why? :P ) --- WOLFY is recruiting!

Of course the Myrmidon outshines the Brutix in most areas. This is why the myrmi is a tier 2 battlecruiser. The brutix is a slightly more affordable battlecruiser, yet plays a different role. It is a gunboat. So, if some reason, a Gallente pilot has more skill in gunnery than drones, such as they haven't played in 2 years since the drone overhaul, then their best bet can be placed on the Brutix for damage. Personally though, I see all Gallente ships as either speedtanks or armortanks. But yes, it shines in different areas. take the tier 2 cruiser Vexor and the tier 3 cruiser Thorax into account. Thorax is a gunboat and can whoop butt if you have the right setup, and the Vexor is a droneboat and can whoop butt if you have the right setup. Each battlecruiser supports different playstyles.

Yeah, I'm one of those. I tend to rig everything I fly and as long as it's not more than the cheap T2's (30-50mil a pop, T2 Shield resists, weapon rigs) I'll go for it... Ofc some ships I see as more disposable but even those I will rig at least cheaply. --- WOLFY is recruiting!

they must not do a lot of pvp in small gangs.
the shield-gank brutix really is great, just have to be aware that you will get primaried, so make sure to warp in seconds after rest of fleet etc. Its not so hot for solo work though however because its so tactically inflexible.
a bit OT, but the myrm really needs some love. I honestly see no reason to fly one over a vexor for 90% of situations.

Shield gank fit it and never get primaried because people will expect you to do no DPS (when in reality you're doing 800+). Fly it together with an overtanked Harbinger that will get primaried 90% of the time. ;) ___________________

I wouldn't spend a lot of ISK on rigging a Brutix. You tend to be popular in one.
Also, the Harbinger is a much better gang DPS ship.

Edited by: Emily Poast on 06/07/2009 15:31:58 Look up some of the Club Bear videos. Kil2 or KaiH (I think that is his name). In one of the more recent ones, they show how to use a Brutix for solo pvp. You have to start out at short range, so you generally have to get lucky, or trick people into coming to you.
Fit is something like:
7 x electrons web, scram, MWD, med cap booster 2x MAR II, 2 x EANM, DCU
I have seen some builds that swap one EANM for a Mag-stab.
EDIT: Left out a MAR

Edited by: Stil Harkonnen on 07/07/2009 01:12:10 I just made this fit, and it seems pretty useful for dumping ridiculous damage on other ships.
[Brutix, blaster] Damage Control II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
10MN MicroWarpdrive I X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator Fleeting Warp Disruptor I Alumel-Wired I Sensor Augmentation, Scan Resolution

[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Valkyrie II x5
650 dps without overheating WITH MY SKILLS (which are high, but not maxed). 10 or 11k armor buffer and don't forget the 6k hull. so 16k buffer. Not too shabby imo. if rigs get cheaper with the changes, put some rigs on there to boost damage even more. Also having some fleet bonuses will help out. use in gangs

2 x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II 1 x Damage Control II 2 x Reinforced Bulkheads II
1 x 10MN MWD 1 x Langour Webber 1 x Warp Scrambler II / Disruptor 1 x Small Cap Booster II, 200's
5 x Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Void 2 x Heavy Ion Blaster II, Void
5 x Hammerhead II
IIRC it fits, it's redonkulously good DPS/ISK ratio.
Roughly 30k EHP and it has an honour tank.
But all those shield tank setups are dumb as you NEEEEEED a cap booster to keep the guns going for any length of time.

"What do people consider this ship to excel at?"
Cheap PVP. Its better for pirating than a Myrm because it doesn't rely on drones (so gate gun fire isn't an issue). Its cheaper than a HAC. It can fit full tackle + tank + 50m3 drone bay + it hits hard. Where it isn't great is that it isn't what I'd call a "survivable" ship in a blaster setup. Then again, there is no such thing as a survivable blaster boat - entering scram range makes things do or die. It doesn't have the sort of tank where you're going to lazily deaggress and jump through a gate to get away from people. Basically its a big thorax.

It seems useful, but it is not. The Harbinger, Hurricane and Drake will out-dps it with vastly better range. If you're going to use a Brutix (you shouldn't, but let's assume you're masochistic enough to do it anyway), either fit T2 neutron blasters with 3x magstabs or reprocess your ship and use the minerals to build a non-comedy BC.
For example:
[Harbinger, No gang mod.] Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Co-Processor II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Warp Disruptor II
