Like the topic says, if you play the closed beta and get weapons and train skills does all that get brought over into the final public game? |

Give the advantage to people who were lucky enough to get into a closed beta? That would **** a lot of people off. Especially with people *claiming of course* they have been playing eve a very long time and still have not gotten a invite to the closed beta.
A public beta i could see your idea working...everyone gets a shot but a closed beta sounds a bit unfair to those who didn't get to play. |

Watch the Fanfest videos. They seem to have said they are looking into what would transfer, if anything, from the Beta to the full game. As it seems they will have an incrementally increasing Beta, leading up to a full release. It makes sense that perhaps some of the information would transfer over, but that is basically because I think the 'release' is really more like a free-for-all ribbon cutting than a 'box it, ship it, sell it' day.
That said, how much of an advantage do you think a few weeks or months will have in the big picture? I imagine it will be somewhat negligible. It is also not uncommon to be playing against people who are 'higher level' than you in any FPS currently. |

No, as the Beta Test takes place on it's own Test Server... when it goes live it will be using Tranquility just like EVE does part of the whole "Single Server, Single Universe" mantra.
While I'm not part of the beta, I have seen AUR for sale on PSN. As it has a physical price, I'm guessing people are already actually spending money to get that currency already - would imagine that the Dust Server (as with SiSi) is actually already linked to a TQ account, so everything is doubled.
i.e. the Training you do on TQ transferes to SiSi, but not visa-versa. Same with AUR. So those who are in the beta and have been able to ammount a little AUR wealth will probably get a nice bonus in that respect, and knowing CCP you may also get some free skillpoints or some peice of rare armour that says "Beta Test" across the chest in blood. Some nice little nod that you won't ever want to take out of your Dust Quarters due to the rarity.
As far as progress going, it won't transfer. Remember you're helping to TEST the game to make sure it doesn't have bugs, glitches, exploits or simply just stability wise ... anything that provides an unfair advantage on the test server making it across to the live server honestly could be exploited too greatly giving people an incredbily unfair advantage.
Especially when you keep in mind that half the skills are EVE-style time learnt and the other half are 'feat' BF3-style actively earnt. All of that extra gameplay even just characters not even equippment would likely give far to large a benefit against those who simply weren't lucky enough to get in. |

IIRC that wasn't really a beta but a pre-release head start for those who had pre-ordered the SE/CE versions of the game. |

It would be silly if AUR bought from PSN didn't transfer over. All will be reimbursed when DUST is actually released. SP is extremely likely to be reset, because we can't have beta players destroying all the newbies, right? |

To this point, in my opinion, the FPS betas I've done it didn't matter about skill carryover. It was always about feel of the game and targeting. And I will say that when I get to beta a game, I can easily own others just by pure feel of the game. That is what I'm interested in mostly. I never minded loosing all the skill ppints or weapons (well not too much), I would just earn them faster against newer players. |

Because the Skill system is a split between EVE-style and BF-style SP earning, it is likely you're going to be able to do better with pure skill for some stuff; but other aspects will be a simple case of more time player will always give you the better advantage :) |

IMHO the game should be reset when brought out in the final, yes its a pain in the ass, like world of tanks in the beta I had top class of tanks and to be reset saw me play the game for 2 months when it was made live then I was bored trying to get the decent tanks again..
But yes it should be reset.......... ...... .... .. .. . Status Shuffle Click Here |

RavenTesio, I beleive that the skill arch will set this apart from other fps titles as well. I loath cod games. But I love bf. They still have that "hit it and quit" piece. But bf3 is challenging. It is more real feeling. In cod and killzone u just run around cap'n ppl. Bf3 seems more skillful. Mags gun play is inbetween to me. But love it. But the rush mode in bf3 is huge. |

i think they stated that you would be starting a fresh character when dust hits the streets. but if you attended the closed beta there was an exclusive item or something from the fanfest stuff. its been so long since i saw them now and all the beer thats gotten me drunk has made me loose some braincells so i dont recall it 100%. |

There would be no sense in a competitive game to let people keep their sp/whatever that they got from beta.
Soe cool perks would be interesting, but a level playfield is the best business decision they can make. ~ 10.058 ~

Of course sp wouldn't transfer over. Its like SiSi testing SP, they will likely be giving or adjusting SP to the absurd levels so people can see many lvls of play. They don't want a small established beta player base roflrolling over everyone else in lvl5 HAVs on launch day. |

Right I could be arsed to read. All pages (on a iPhone) but I know of 1 F2P game that had a long beta phase and carried over all the stuff you did in beta to live. Game is called APB reloaded I was in beta for that for few months and I brought some perm cars and items and when game released all transferred. Just saying could happen in dust or maybe players will get some free XP to use dependant on how much they had in beta like 50 % of the SP in time trained skills. |

Yea?
Cool! And how is that game doing?
Oh, its not doing so well?
Gee I wonder why...
Carrying over progress from beta is a TERRIBLE idea.
I have been in several betas, and never EVER had stuff carry over to live except for character names and such, none of the progress.
