I really don't even know where to start, so I'll just explain the problem. Well I'am doing a level 4 mission and I'am not even outta the pocket and some noob starts salvageing my wreaks. Which is the big reason I do missions loot and salvage. Now CCP tells me properly equipped players can probe space and find ships and thing which is undersatndable, but it took me a long time to train all the skills ( astrometrics, astrometric rangefinding, astrometric pinpointing, astrometric acquisitions) to be able to use probes and scan really well, and ccp changes it all around for the noobs to be able to find what ever they want. I mean come on the mission was offered to me not them, if they wanted to do it then they can talk to the agent. So being that the mission is mine and no one else, then everything in the mission is mine, loot, salvage, bounties, rewards, etc. Loot and salvage is where most mission runners make money. I know the loot is protected, but sometimes they still take it, but the salvage needs to be protected as well, or atleast my them a target for coming into the mission. OK I'am done I think just tried of ccp making it easier for new players, and have my missions scanned down by player with less then two months on the game, it took me that long to train the skills I needed to use the probes. If I missed anything O well you get the point, and it needs to be fixed or make them flashy red, eithers fine with me, just gives me one more ship to loot and salvage.

salvage is not exclusively for you. And no, these people are not noobs, they know the rules and where to get free ISK. The noob are YOU, for starting this thread.

Said the smack-talker who hides his corp from everybody...
Look the fact of the matter is 8 times out of ten i have all my salvage stolen before i can get my salvage ship back in to clear it out because of this... bug, if someone comes in and salvages my wrecks they should not be protected by concord, I call for killrights on salvage seagulls! its not fair and it is ruining missionrunning and the very purpose of salvaging in the first place... theft is theft, justice is balance, steal my stuff and I should have the right to blow you up and get it back...

Close one, the word with "N" you were looking for is "ninja". But yeah, salvaging other wrecks should enable shooting the salvager. I mean, outrunning a destroyer or snatching the wrecks from his tractor beam is fun, but having him shoot you... gives nice option

nothing is stolen. Further, there is not even any reason why salvage/loot should be reserved for you, you steal from NPC and all that stuff should be owned by NPC acutally. PvP mechanics regarding the ownership issues is correct in contrast to NPC, silly thing.
You're mission runnung for ISK. Fine. So what? Do this outside hubs, where noone others want the free stuff if you are unable to manage picking up the loot/salvage quickly before others do.

Um no, the agent Contract Me to do their dirty work inside my agents sov, therefore all resulting loot/salavge is mine as it is my contract. for belt rats i can understand if it is ownerless. but in a level for it should be diffrent.

Edited by: Robert Caldera on 06/07/2009 14:05:18 so the player wrecks must belong to me only if I've got a merc contract? There is no reason why the ownership of pirated ships (for whatever reason) and cargo should ever change.

Mods should finally make a sticky about salvaging and ban everyone starting a new topic on it.
A simple search or going back a few pages would have yielded you a few threads about the topic and shown you, that salvage is not yours.
This is CCPs view about it: Linkage

Did you even search for othere threads on this topic... Hell, I can't check in for more than two days without someone crying about this.
DO some reaserch, or learn what 'Salvage' actually is. For the OP and others who would rather go crying to mommy before learning and adapting --->
in maritime law, the rescue of a ship or its cargo on navigable waters from a peril that, except for the rescuerÆs assistance, would have led to the loss or destruction of the property. Under some jurisdictions, aircraft may also be salved. Except for salvage performed under contract, the rescuerùknown as the salvorùmust act voluntarily without being under any legal duty to do so, apart from the general duty to give assistance to those in peril at sea or to stand by after a collision. So long as the owner or his agent remains on the ship, unwanted offers of salvage may be refused. A derelictùa vessel found entirely deserted or abandoned without hope or intention of recoveryùis, however, fair game for anyone who comes across it. Typical acts of salvage include releasing ships that have run aground or on reefs, raising sunken ships (or their cargo), putting out fires, and so on.
I have bolded the part you need to pay attention to. Shut up and adapt! ------------------------ Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager "I've got a couple of Strippers on my ship... and they just love to dance!" ------------------------ |

Miner gets ore Builders get module/ship Salvager get salvage Mission runner gets Mission reward, Bonus reward, Bounty, Loot, Loyalty point.
I say take away 2-3 of those income (why should there be bounty if you already get a reward for killing them from your agent which is sanctioned by Concord anyway) and then I'll agree to your "make salvage a red flag offence". Mission running is already the most profitable thing you can do short of owning a squadron of miners alts in 0.0 mining ABC.

Salvaging is a business like any other. You want freedom of enterprise destroyed for what? The benefit of a few newbies like you who can't compete?

If you don't like ninjas, don't mission in a major hub.
If salvage is really that important to you then you should train up your probing skills and ninja other people's missions.

Hopefully someone has already posted what CCP thinks about this. Salvage does not belong to the mission runner. Get over it.
And if for some reason CCP does change the flagging system and make salvaging a flagging offense you will wish that never happened. You have no idea what is waiting for you after that salvager goes red.
