Has anyone else noticed a sudden drop in the prices of regular Kernite? I was able to sell around 350 per unit (a horribly inflated price, which was good for me), but noticed an extremely sharp drop to around 200 per unit, and it's still falling. Any ideas what caused such a sudden drop?

Recent dumping of 2000 macro accounts by CCP may have something to do with this.
I was surprised to find some kernite in the belts, usually you have to hunt for a few small 'roids here and there if you wanted to mine your own for the storyline mission.

I went to an ice belt the other day, and saw 5 other people mining, and none were macros. I was impressed. Other empire belts have ore in them.

Sorry, no. You have to go into wormholes and get farmed by the new AI NPCs like everyone else...

It may be less mission runners, it could be speculation (folks dumping stocks of Kernite in fear of even lower prices). The Isogen itself in the ore doesn't nearly support the current prices, if mission runners aren't constantly soaking it for storylines.
Witnessed a similar drop in the Domain region, regional buys around 140, and belts that weren't mined all to hell.

Yeah i think prices should be about 90, but due to runners it climbed up to around 350 where I am. I guess the bubble finally popped.

There is a faction mission that requires xxx units of Kernite in exchange for an Implant.
^^ this is what causes the kernite price to be high.
The frequency of the above mission was reduced by ccp some months ago, hence less demand for raw kernite.

Isn't Omber also an ore type required by some missions?

Omber for the L3 version giving a +3 implant, Kernite for the L4 version giving a +4 implant.
