i would love to see an option to set a simple priority list for my drones...
for example: attack all frigates, then destroyers, then cruisers, then battlecruisers, then battleships. this list could be rearranged by the player as they see fit, and it shouldn't be too complicated, so no distinction will be made between T1 frigs and T2 frigs, etc.
it's so annoying to have to target all the frigate rats orbiting me at 2km while my light drones on aggressive decide to attack a battleship that's 50km away from me.
other options for expanded drone settings might be: "attack whoever is dealing the most DPS to me, repeat"
"attack the closest rat to me, repeat"

I would like to see those options added:
- Prime closest enemies - Prime farthest enemies
It would be nice to have more options, but then Drones would become too much of a minigame. We have to be careful what we wish for...

Yes. Drone commands could really do with being expanded.
Here are a few other things that could be added:
Engage target closest to optimal (for sentries).
A drop-down list of gang-members to repair instead of having to target someone in order to rep them. This would work the same as the 'assist' menu.
Possibly even a simple scripting language for giving a list of commands for drones. (this is probably going a bit far though)

YES.
You don't even need a new menu. Just make logistics drones treat a 'guard' command as an order to repair a fleet member, and an 'assist' command as an order to repair whoever that fleet member is repairing with remote shield/armor modules. (With the appropriate warning/confirmation messages if the final target of repairs is at war or would get you concorded.)
Even fixing the way aggressive drones change targets and ignore the one I assign would make my day - which CCP supposedly fixed already, but actually haven't. Sentry drones do it all the damn time, and even regular drones do it occasionally. Maybe the sentries are taking too long to turn to face the assigned target or something, and they try to fire but aren't positioned for it and so they decide "OMG I can't attack that target after all!"...? Because sometimes even when they're on passive they'll throw out an engage order a second or two after it's given and end up just sitting there doing nothing.
