All i can say is that CCP did not meet 10% of players expectations. Where is that war overhaul? All i see "change" in war dec fee and some holes fixed and you have it all in nice wrap now. Its not overhaul, its hotfix. What other games call patch you call expansion. And what about tax and economy fixes you told us about? We are getting only tax increase to 1,5%... I expected at least introduction of tax for changing order from nothing (100isk) to some percentage that would hurt botts and tweeks to taxing so that that players really feel taxes without skills and standings and that you cant get rid of it with standings and skills completely - it would be boost to FW too and FW players would update their systems for reduction in taxes (you cold get new bigger low sec hubs) - but you gave us nothing. Only nice and good thing here are missiles, and that is only 9 years late, and maybe FW. That Ain't Right |

There is one that bothers me, it's in the Fixes section.
Modules
Fixed a case where multiple tractor beams could sometimes be engaged on the same container or wreck.
Can anyone elaborate on this? Does this mean I can't turbo salvage 4 tractors beams on one wreck?.. I hope that isn't so. |

Don't mind me, I am just bitter.
I understand that we are talking about a very complex matter. My concern is that you might take things so slow that you will have to reassess frigates again by the time you plan to reach Capitals or T2 Battleships. I'd much rather see you change one ship class at a time, and actually touch every ship in this class, and explain, every time, how those changes fit into a detailed and clear long-term plan of ship balance. |

Good job CCP. CCP Ytterbium has stated that ship re balancing will happen gradually. We start with four and take it from there. Ok, fine, changing all the ships at once to reflect what the overall vision is in the War, Modules & Superfriends blog of CCP SoniClover is not in truth to be expected. It would be a lot to ask. However, can you clarify whether this process is slated to take place with ensuing patches of Inferno, or will we have to wait another 6 months for the next expansion for another 5 frigs to get altered? Because if the later is the case then the above criticism would actually be quite tempered.
Which gets to the point that as you go in steps there will be periods of time where some races will lack a particular role of ship. For instance, you altered the role of the Tormentor. This now leaves the Amarr without a mining frigate. So any new players that start as Amarr are sorta SOL for building up isk as a noob. They'll have to put mining lasers on another frigate, none of which will have a bonus for mining. I certainly hope that the mining frigates of the other races will be altered in the next patch to balance this situation. Sure, for us vets it means nothing, but for new players it is a huge handicap to roll amarr.
Also, about that blog, CCP SoniClover listed only Caldari ships as getting the role of "bombardment ships" and listing the Hurricane as an attack vessel. Are only Caldari going to have bombardment ships? With now three BCs for each race it would seem to me that all the tier 3s fit the "attack vessel" role. That would leave the Minmatar needing a combat ship of the line and a bombardment ship between the Cyclone and the Hurricane. Similarly one would expect gallente and amarr to have a BC in each role as well. I hope this is what's being planned because if not then well, you'd better be prepared for unintended consequences.
Otherwise, thanks for doing something to try to fix FW. I have a new character that will be joining a militia to test it out. Hope the changes will work out for the better there.
edit- also, have to get these things into this post, GIVE THE HOUND IT"S DORSAL FIN BACK. I want to fly a space shark again even if it has no fricking laser beams. ANd FIX THE AGILITY ON THE NEMESIS and to a lesser extent on the Purifier. These ships do not tank. To continue to gimp the Nemesis and Purifier with some stupid racial tanking theory and not stat them according to their role is misguided. |

Really? Mining frigates is your shining example?
Everyone please raise your hand if you mined for more than a week in a mining frigate ever in your character's lifetime.
The mining frigate role is surpassed instantly by flying any larger ship, all of which take less than a week to qualify for. The mining frigate role could just as easily go away for all the difference it makes in anyone's career.
It isn't a huge handicap to anyone flying Amarr, it's a mild bump in the road that will quickly be behind you. Here's your sign... |

i still say that 5% bonus to resist is a much better bonus then 10% to internal reps...
a 25% increase to resists makes internal reps better ehp better and incoming rr more effective....
but a 50% bonus to internal reps does make internal reps more effective but it does not affect ehp or incoming rr....
personally IMO the bonus to armor repair should also include incoming armor remote repair...
this way you have a much more balance paradigm...
where gal ships would be better at internal reps/have lower ehp/ and even on incoming rr...
and caldari ships would be better at ehp/ have lower internal reps/ and even on incoming rr... PLEX FOR PIZZA!

The mining frigate role could just as easily go away for all the difference it makes in anyone's career. It isn't a huge handicap to anyone flying Amarr, it's a mild bump in the road that will quickly be behind you. Two things:
1. I started in 2006 when a new character started with **** all sp and attributes that were abysmal and did not quickly rise due to the learning skills. So my perspective is skewed. However, the point still stands because,
2. Differentials at the beginning of a characters development can have a disproportionate impact. The reduced income as a new player can affect everything such as ability to buy new ships, new skills, and consequently move on to new activities.
So yes it has an impact. You can quibble about the extent, but it is not insignificant. So let's say somewhere between huge and insignificant. Regardless, it is there and needs to be addressed as soon as possible. |

Lol, a few more things.
Are there plans to introduce a new rig for drones that increases scout drone damage as well? Guns and missiles both have low slot damage boosting modules and rigs which do the same thing. As it stands now we will have a mod to increase scout and sentry drone damage (the new mod) but no rig for scout drone damage, only one for sentries. Is this intended?
Also, I hope that you are going forward with having tracking disruptors affect missile range. Otherwise there will be an ingame counter to turret bombardment ships, but none for missile bombardment ships. So hopefully there will be the addition to the optimal script of a missile speed or flight time reduction, or a new script to accomplish either of these. I suppose most missile users, myself included, would prefer that the effect would be on flight time. Missiles don't need to lose flight speed, far better if they lost flight time through a tracking disruptor.
Also, are there any plans to introduce any low or medium slot mods to increase missile range or explosion parameters? Obviously these would have to be very mild so that missile do not become op especially against smaller targets. However, such mods would break up the easy(er) fitting choices that missile ships currently enjoy in packing lows with damage mods and mids with tank. |

Early on, rookie pilots are lucky if they can make 200-400k per hour. Mining cruisers start at around 4-6M for the hull these days plus another 1-2M for fittings. It doesn't sound like a lot, but new pilots are also busy spending ISK on skillbooks and other things. To most players with less then a month in game, 1M ISK is still a lot of ISK. It took me probably 2-3 weeks back in '07 to get into a mining cruiser, and that was with a 1M gift from an older pilot.
That being said, it's far easier to make a few million ISK these days then it used to be when I started in '07. The career agents do a good job of giving you skillbooks and a few ships. The SoE epic arc in Arnon is something like 10-15M (more/less?) in bounties and rewards. And older and richer players are a lot more likely to pay for newer players to do the scut work (like Planetary Interaction, or paying someone to mine Tritanium).
I'm not overly attached to the likes of the Bantam. They're very lightweight and could almost be replaced by just fitting mining lasers on another frigate or destroyer hull. But they do serve a role during that first few weeks before you get into cruisers.

Unified inventory looks awesome, and the FW changes should be interesting too.
I'm disappointed that you're only rebalancing a few frigs. I understand it would be bad to do them all at once, but couldn't you have at least done cruisers?
Regarding the tax increase, are there any plans to introduce new skills or modify existing ones to lower that tax (i.e. something beyond the current scope of Accounting)? |

From past experience I think I will wait a few days before renewing that. It will probably be at least a week before the game is playable again, since of course, no prior testing will have been carried out - especially for Mac users.
One account sitting unused will be enough during that time.

o/
When I started out, I used the Navitas exclusively for mining for quite a while. It wasn't a matter of ISK and being able to afford a bigger ship. I was advised by almost every experienced player to spend my first weeks training up support skills, rather than rush into any larger ship (such as a cruiser or mining barge), which I would not be able to fit and fly properly anyways. |

Um, try a month in a Burst. Mostly I didn't know any better, but was also a good way to get used to mining and rats (I'd sometimes have to go back and drop a combat turret on it to take it out).
I still do have a Tormentor with miners on it, which I've used from time to time for a quick grab of something; It will be interesting to see if the fit still works (I believe it will). My PvE roaming Thrasher also has a Miner I (usually offlined) for when I'm on the way to a L1 or L2 storyline.
BTW, in the thread discussing this change, I eventually decided that leaving the Industry Tutorial alone was the better call (though some of the wording should change). Being given a 5-run of Tormentors (and soon the other related ships) gives the new player a fallback position by mining - and making - their own backup ships early on.
I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

I still don't understand why it was a good idea to make mining frigates into combat frigates, completely removing their role from the game, while making absolutely no changes to two existing groups of virtually useless combat bonused frigates, IE the Atron, Condor, Executioner, Slasher, Kestrel, inquisitor and breacher. |

1) failure to handle object inheritance resulting in windows losing (not saving) their state as manifested by windows opening with no regard to original position, sizing, or contents. 2) work flows are negatively affected by extra clicks and odd filtering (like packaged ships failing to show up in the ships window).
There are many other specifics. Please read CCP Guard's thread here and comment.

Can we get some clarification on this patch change?
Specifically, suppose you log out in space without aggression. A 60-second timer elapses and you disappear from space. Some time later, let's say the next day, you log back in. Your ship appears in space 1 million km from your logoff point, aligns, and warps back to the logoff point.

i found the inventory UI in the test server problematic in therms of opening cans and wrecks in space (browsing be twin them), besides switching ships and show the respective ship and cargo hold (it lacks the practical simplicity of the interface that makes things easy and fast) ... this is another expansion with non practical stuff that will cause interface frustration among the players and add to the pissometer that should burst around the end of the summer if expansions continues this road.
on a positive note, the ships rebalance seems nice in a way that T1 frigates become something that players will actually like to fly.

I expected at least introduction of tax for changing order from nothing (100isk) to some percentage that would hurt botts and tweeks to taxing so that that players really feel taxes without skills and standings and that you cant get rid of it with standings and skills completely - it would be boost to FW too and FW players would update their systems for reduction in taxes (you could get new bigger low sec hubs) - but you gave us nothing.
Only nice and good thing here are missiles, and that is only 9 years late, and maybe FW.
Better to take baby steps.
Would you rather have a 1.5% tax or a 10% decrease in bounties? Which do you think would upset folks more?

Atron, Condor, Executioner and Slasher all make good shuttles, and are good cheap tackle ships.
Kestrel and Breacher can be hard hitting ships. Just by the time you have skills for that most folks are flying other ships.

Don't mind me, I am just bitter. I understand that we are talking about a very complex matter. My concern is that you might take things so slow that you will have to reassess frigates again by the time you plan to reach Capitals or T2 Battleships. I'd much rather see you change one ship class at a time, and actually touch every ship in this class, and explain, every time, how those changes fit into a detailed and clear long-term plan of ship balance.

he's talking about it remember it's postiton in space and in station, like the current system.
I'm all for the new UI in fact I've been defending it a lot. However, it needs to remember it's position in space, when you shift click windows open. Tormentor will hold two light or one medium drone. A pair of EC-300s would be a standard option, but combined with the expanded drone list it could get more interesting.

I can't interpret this as anything but a standard corporate "f-off". Not very well hidden even.

We did not fix the technical issues that defender missiles have. The only thing here was to make the defender missiles compatible to the missile graphical changes (which require that each missile can only be fired by one type of missile launcher). We'll get to the technical fixes later. |

Although in your example (where the ship was removed from space once its timer had expired) you'll be warping back from a random 1M km point. If someone manages to find this spot and bubble it before you align, they will now prevent your warp. They could always do this with targetted tackle, this change just makes bubbles consistent.
If you logged out in a FF at a bubbled POS, you'll still warp back through bubbles surrounding the forcefield - it is only bubbles at the 1M km spot that have been changed to be able to disrupt a return e-warp.

Yes, right now there is a light defender missile that can only be fired from Light Missile Launchers and a heavy defender missile that can only be fired from Heavy Missile Launchers. Once we get around to actually fixing the technical issues we will probably add more versions. |

Why are you so intent on fixing defender missiles at all? why not add some point defense system (similar to Phalanx CIWS) instead, that would look much cooler and would probably be much easier to get to work good as the defense system wouldn't need to add a missile tracking missile to the battlefield. Instead it just has x% chance at killing the missile at some range, which mechanically must be much simpler.
And if the CIWS system fires at all incoming missiles (even if it ends up missing) you will have a magnificent light show whenever a ship goes into battle with incoming missiles. It would look awesome. |

It's an issue with the new launchers/missiles. Since there is actual size involved between ammo/launcher we have to get versions that fit into each of them. |

The mining frigate role is surpassed instantly by flying any larger ship, all of which take less than a week to qualify for. The mining frigate role could just as easily go away for all the difference it makes in anyone's career.
o/ When I started out, I used the Navitas exclusively for mining for quite a while. It wasn't a matter of ISK and being able to afford a bigger ship. I was advised by almost every experienced player to spend my first weeks training up support skills, rather than rush into any larger ship (such as a cruiser or mining barge), which I would not be able to fit and fly properly anyways.
They had good advice, if you were going into combat asap. There's no "flying it properly" to a mining ship as far as skills go, other than "can you fly it?" and "can you mine in it as efficiently as possible?" - get a good income flowing and then train the support skills you need for combat. Flying a mining ship properly is all about being aware of threats and leaving the belt before you die.
If you don't intend to make money by mining - then don't bother with it at all. Here's your sign... |

I'm not questioning the size of the missiles, I understand why you have to have different sizes. What I question is the system itself. Defender missiles seem like an unnecessarily complicated solution. Better to just scrap it and use some sort of CIWS system instead. |

I totally agree with this and the previous description. Interceptor missiles are in real life a PITA so much easier to fit a missile tracking machine gun that shoots them down.
This is what is fitted on the UK Type 46 destroyers and the US navy uses them on everything:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phalanx_CIWS
Anti-missile missile defence systems tend to be in the ballistic class and so would have a place in Eve but be used against siege weapons not Light and Heavy missile launchers.

No, its not actually. Are you trying to tell, what post patch any titan that logged off at a pos (bubbled or otherwise) can be scanned after login, bubbled by dictor at the point 1kk km form pos, where it appears after relogging, and prevented from returning to pos? Its major change. Needs to be tested ofc. Probably can be done to supercarries too, not sure if its possible to land a dictor at scan result before SC goes into warp.

Ok I'm getting an error.
Launcher downloaded patch, attempted to apply it and failed. I got an error message saying that it would attempt to apply again with increased privileges. After a few seconds the launcher faded out in that way that vista tells you it's having a brain fart and then nothing for a couple of minutes. Firefox kept running. Tried opening Task Manager... wouldn't open. Tried restart of computer, wouldn't. Forced restart (pwr for 4 secs). reopened launcher AS ADMIN, it restarted the download of the patch and then after only a couple of minutes came up with another error saying patch couldn't be applied. Nothing about privileges.
Any suggestions?
Restarting comp and entire process again now.
Fixed itself on the third restart.

Is there a way to keep the seperate windows i make by shift clicking on the inventory tab? such as my item hanger / ship hanger / current cargobay ? because they revert back to the all in one window (inventory) when i close and try to re-open them or even the next time i dock.
similar to how it was before, with the 3 seperate windows so i can view all 3 at once, it worked very well for me then instead of the all in one window, it is a nice feature but im curious if there was a way to have both in a sense. |

Basically, if you have windows open that work in both space and the station, they should not revert to a single window. That's a bug that's being fixed |

Patch failure step (3/4)
Attempted 8 times toad patch using the eve preloader client launcher.
Each time has met with failure. I have bypassed the launcher so I could log into EvE. There are some issues with my game now visually. I have talked with others who have no issue loading the patch,
What is my fix for this.
I have restarted 7 times. I have taken off firewall. I have switched from firefox to E expr. I have cleared cookies, I have dfragged comp.
Is there a direct site where i can down load the patch without using eve client and install it manually |

I believe you, as soon as i saw how I interacted with the cargo cans in space while mining, right off the bat this is a pain in the arse.
I do not think, I will be doing salvage in the future for the fact it will take me 20min just to get all this window scroll, select, loot, reopen and do all over again. Forget it

OK ... as someone who has created a number of Amarr Mining Characters I'm disgusted with the conversion of the Tormentor into yet another crappy, worthless frigate.
What the **** do you people use for brains? Horse manure?
As to the smart ass that said it didn't matter because no one spent more than a week in a mining frigate anyway:
1) For a new player - that's a pretty damn important week. If you're a miner - what are you supposed to do - put lasers on some other - unbonused - crappy frigate? How the hell are you supposed to earn the money for that mining cruiser? Flying Missions?
2) Yes - I have used mining frigates for more than a week. I still use them if the situation warrants. They're faster and more nimble than a cruiser or a barge - not to mention cheaper. As a matter of fact - I've got an alt that is using a Tormentor now ... oh ... I should say WAS using a Tormentor. That character is probably never going to get any more skill time - but - every now and then I used them for something where it was handy for them to be able to mine a little ore.
3) Have you ever tried mining in an Arbitrator? Hunh? Do you not understand that it is nearly worthless as a Mining Cruiser? Of all the races to butt **** by stripping them of their mining frigate - the Amarr were the ones most hurt. Look at the number of turret spots on an Arbitrator!!!!!! It's a good combat ship but it just flat sucks as a Miner. Mining Drone bonused cruisers suck at mining - NO ONE - thinks of the Vexxor or the Arbitrator as Mining Cruisers - although - at least the Vexxor has enough turret slots. At least with the Burst - however crappy a mining frigate it was - you could move on to the Slicer which was next best to the Osprey. Now - the begining Amarr Miners have ******* NOTHING until they get to a Retriever unless they cross train - and - how many new people understand about cross training? Are you going to add that to Aura's introduction?
"Oh and if you're an Amarr Miner, sorry but your screwed. You have no decent mining vessel. We recommend that you cross train Caldari - because if you don't - you'll never have the money for a Retriever."
4) For the Caldari Miner the route is commonly Bantam > Osprey > Retriever. For the Amarr - it WAS Tormentor > Retriever. Now - that is no longer an option. You pretty much HAVE to cross train into a Bantam then go to an Osprey. The only other alternative is to head for a Procurer. Maybe they'll have some popularity with the Amarr now ...
And - what the hell are we supposed to do with this thing we've got now? If you wanted a drone frigate you should have made it the Magnate ... oh wait - it's already got 2 of them ...
Why do this?
Were people standing in line screaming for another crappy Amarr Frigate?
Do you have ANY people programming for CCP who play miners? Do you? Have any of them played Amarr Miners?
Congratulations. You have just screwed all the new people, playing Amarr who want to be miners.

Constructive feedback incomming.
I do enjoy the visuals of the new inventory, however would it be possible to let us make shortcuts somehow. Im not entirely sure how the best way to go about it would be but allowing some kind of drag and drop of folders from the tree. There are obvious details here that needs to be bashed out like can you drop a location dependant folder etc.
Being able to open extra windows with shift click is good however a setting for open new window always on opening container in space would be most handy (and would save a ton of time looting mining etc).
Personally I tried using the new system with my pos and going through the tree to access the different tabs in the different arrays is a bit more backwards that it used to be. The best fix for this imo would be a subtree building on the current setup, where if you open the array you get a new window with a tree structure detailing the tabs.
Having just one access path to your assets is all well and dandy, but simple common operations like opening a tab in a pos array has gone from 2 clicks to 4, and this annoys people.
My two cents :) |

Hey masterplan if you wouldn't mind but to clarify this a little more.
So what you are saying is that if i log into my titan RIGHT NOW and if it was logged off in space (not in a POS) someone could scan out my titans random ewarp spot warp to it before the 45sec align time and bubble it?
but if my titan logs off inside a Forcefield, my titan is safe from being bubbled in its ewarp spot? |

Thanks for the clarification. This seems like a fairly major change to login mechanics for supercapitals. To keep a supercapital completely safe from probing interdictors, you'd need to check local prior to logging in at a safe POS. Crashed supercapitals would also encounter increased danger when logging back in. Is this your intention? |

just gonna do a straight copy paste from the feedback thread.
everything seems ok.. except for the unified inventory window
> Double click to open JUST ships cargo now gone - i seem to remember complaints when this was removed in the past? > Ship cargohold now gone - this ruins my personal layout but it's an annoyance > Doesn't seem to 'remember' it's position > Picking up cargobays from POS guns 20km away > No ability to remove items you don't want in the list overview style? > Filter for valuble items picks up ammo and cheap BPO but not faction POS towers? > Useless for blueprints until ME/PE is displayed in list or detail view > Doesn't work well with certain colour schemes (as shown by Chribba) > Windows decide to resize themselves with no particular reason upon undocking/docking > POS hangers with large amounts of copies now lag MORE than they used to (before you had a slight delay to load items, now you have lag on everything to do with said items)
bugs i've found so far:
> attempting to repackage station containers that have been used will no longer say your unable to repackage the item due to entries in the log it just won't do it with no explanation as to why
my thoughts?
make it optional, just like the WiS stuff, or roll back and remove it, put it back on SiSi till it's actually ready and not missing half the benefits of the old window system or at least not so clunky and unintuative i like only having what i want open open you know?
also these new modules should be T1 and have BPO seeded so it's actually a player driven market.. just a thought as it's a basic cornerstone of the game y'know... |

EDIT: though I'm not arguing that the unified inventory sucks balls or that the changes this caused to supers is really dumb.

Not really. Either we're totally misunderstanding you, or you don't really understand this patch.
For a start, it has never been possible to disrupt a fresh login warp. This is true for all EVE builds including the current one. Newly logged in ships are unlockable in the same manner as undocking ships (and bubbles do not work on them either in this build). Which is lucky, as what you just described is utterly insane. Did you mean to say that only ships which have not yet vanished from space (usually due to aggro) should be affected by this? That makes sense.
However your post above implies that any slow-aligning ship, including ones that logged out in a forcefield and have not been online for days, should be able to be tackled within 30 seconds of logging in with nothing they can do about it. Surely you can see how that would break the game utterly? Please clarify.

Pickles,
What were you CCP folks thinking by the way. The old inventory system was not broken, and for the fact I did not have to wait for the inventory boxes to load.
Now, transferring 10 items or more take much longer to load. The point and drag and drop are lagged.
Why,
Why.
The saying, if not broken dont eff with it. All I can say is pickles.
No one was really complaining about the drag and click/box inventory. Hey, you have people complaining about it now. This whiner included.
Put it back the way it was! It was quicker, easier to navigate and well just simpler.

Alright, fair is fair.
It took all evening to run the update and it reached about 75% on stage 2 and then restarted stage 2 for no apparent reason - but it did update correctly and it does work.
I don't like the new combined Inventory - I miss seeing my Inventory in front of me when in the Station.
However, I can still login and play - on the night of the update. I can't remember the last time that happened.
I even renewed my second subscription - mainly so I could see the fourth CQ layout. Gallente is fairly attractive, Caldari is cool and high-tech complete with transparent floors, Amarr is a bit dark and spooky and Minmatar is dark and scruffy. Very nice - glad my main is Gallente as I would not want to live in the other three.
Also, it is true that the Amarr ships now look a bit dull, instead of the shiny gold lustre they used to have. Not an improvement.
Of course, as I don't do PVP or FW, all I get for the update is a matt-finish Amarr ship for my Amarr alt and a confusing Inventory.
Well, at least it works and is still playable. |

Restarted computer to "imprint" the state. Restarted EVE launcher and now its updating the patch again.
25% through applying the patch and I expect I'll have to restart the comp and launcher again as per instructions.

Hello.
We have made and alternative version to patch the client, you simply download the patch file and extract it and then let the launcher do the rest.
The patches are available on the following forum thread here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=92005&find=unread

I stand corrected. Since last night's minor update I cannot leave the station without the system locking up.
I leave the start point of a mission with all criteria fulfilled except the actual delivery and when I arrive at the destination, none of the criteria are still completed - even though I have the item to be delivered.
Two accounts - both valid until August - both unusable
Nice one CCP, especially as it worked after the major update on Tuesday. |
