I got an email in my RL email regarding my account from Applebabe.
Applebabe did you send this? It is requesting personal information.

CCP would never ask you for your personal info they have it already so unless you have an ongoing petition or communication i would delete it and think nothing more of it :)

CCP makes one post about how they sent out a billing email, and now everyday we have 10 threads about emails received from CCP. Nice work.
Its generally pretty easy to figure out if its a CCP email or not. _________________

It looks legit, I just want Applebabe or somebody to say something about it. It is regarding fansites.
From Alisa Wang Mon Jul 6 23:30:15 2009 Return-Path: <[email protected]> Authentication-Results: mta342.mail.re4.yahoo.com from=ccpgames.com; domainkeys=neutral (no sig); from=ccpgames.com; dkim=neutral (no sig) Received: from 87.237.32.65 (EHLO ymir.ccpgames.com) (87.237.32.65) by mta342.mail.re4.yahoo.com with SMTP; Mon, 06 Jul 2009 23:37:58 -0700
That's the first part (the important bit) of the header.
It looks legit to me, I just want to be double safe.

When in doubt about the legitimacy of an E-mail from EVE mail the EVE customer support for clarification.
The use of checking it in the playerbase is hardly of use since nobody from the players can actually verify or toss out if it's legit.

Sorry not Applebabe, but I can pretty much guarantee that this is a phishing attempt. We have no reason to email you asking for personal information. Please do not put your self at risk by replying to that email.
I know the header looks correct, but you ever notice how you tend to get spam email from yourself? Yeah headers are easy to manipulate.
Filing a petition is the best way to get in contact with any one of us. If you still feel like you need confirmation please do so I can assure you Applebabe will get back to you through that official line of communication.

Not sure why yahoo would be in the from header if it came from CCP. Unless you use yahoo mail.

Phishing mails are easily identified as such when they do not ask you log in on the official page to edit/add the information (never click a link in an email, always use saved browser bookmarks, lots of email spoofing going on these days)

Well the reply-to address is correct, I've had mails from Alisa before regarding the EVE fansite listing. Though I'm almost certain that no CCP employee would be asking for personal information, and it doesn't hurt to double-check.

publishing email address, thereby increasing the amount of junk emails they have to deal with, is a bit of an obstruction, no?

Any other people who receive mails that they find suspicious then I would urge you to submit a petition.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to confuse anyone. What Navigator said is correct. The email in question is legit and there is a few more out there from Applebabe.

I also got an email regarding a survey about using the localised version of the EVE-Client.
The Survey seemed genuine to me.

Sigarii is known for flying expensive stuff, lost lot's of t3 cruisers for example, uses faction ships and expensive modules aswell, like if he has unlimited isk. Everyone is asking where he gots all the isk from. Now you confirm he has personal email contact with devs. This smells like another t20 incident tbh.

The email is regarding a fansite thing.

I haven't gotten one of these e-mails, so I don't know exactly what is being asked in them. But if I may advise that it might be prudent that if e-mails do go out to EVE players, that it be made clear that no personal identifiable information is being requested. CCP should have all of that information already.
If it's a survey being conducted, doing so through the EVE website might be the better way to go.
In any case, any e-mails requesting information, regardless of the nature, have a chance of being confused with phishing attempts. And phishers can use official policy to make their attempts look and feel more legitimate. Trying to collect information via e-mail blurs the line unnecessarly.
