And not internet spaceships, either.
The only MMO I know of, besides POTBS to have sailable ships in it is Vangaurd (had SoE not shipwrecked that game by purchasing it, I think I would have kept playing it. It was DEFINITELY the spiritual successor to EQ1). I like captaining my own boat, but the ships in EVE make me a bit claustrophobic to fill this need.

Navyfield
ww2 naval combat game, murderously hard, particularly if you don't pay to play, but when you get into a ship you enjoy captaining, and get good at using it, pwning paying noobs who are ahead of you is fun

I'm looking for all suggestions, but in particular, multiplayer/MMO.

Don't know what definition you'd use, but World of Warcraft has ships. They're used to transport Alliance characters between the two main continents and in the 2nd expansion area as well, to transport either Alliance or Horde between villages populated by talking walruses. Or is that, walri? -------------

Harpoon of old. In Amiga days was a computer version of the table top game. It was a modern naval warfare simulator. Then it just had something like an air traffic control interface. They tried to jazz it up recently with 3d gfx but it was not as popular.
From playing it, whetever it is truely realistic or not, its possible to decimate a carrier group with bombers that use anti ship missiles. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. ~Saint |

Pirates of the Carribean.
While it still has that feel of a game in progress, and with an insanely annoying main quest (Go across this island, kill a guy, grab something from him, come back. Now go back and kill another to get another thing, and come back. Now go back a third time...)
But if you have friends/little bros then sea combat is pretty fun, because your friends can run around your ship and control some guns that are usually not controllable.
But POTBS is better than POTCO, so might as well just stay with that. ------------------------------------- My other alt is a Ferrari

Empire: Total War may not be an MMO, but for RTS sailing ship combat, it's pretty good.
Whoever said Harpoon was spot on as well. Not exactly pretty, and a bit hard at times, but definitely a neat modern naval sim. =)
