I have recently noticed that bananas and apples are priced similarly and yet the banana has a good 4 inches of height on the apple. Please nerf banana accordingly.

I think they are reasonably balanced. There are a couple things that come to mind though. One, the penalty on shield extenders/rigs is significant for any non capital ship. The penalty on armor plates/rigs is only really significant on cruisers and below. Two, in general low slots are both more plentiful and more discretionary than mid slots. Three, seeing as how cruisers really need at least two LSEs to have enough of a buffer to not get obliterated, I think the sig radius penalty is a bit extreme. Two LSEs on a cruiser is like a 30% increase in sig. Thats straight up 30% more damage from missiles (well, ones with a bigger explosion radius than you at any rate) and a significant increase in damage from turrets due to tracking.
You were only looking at the lock time as the penalty for shield extenders when really the bigger one is the general increase in damage taken.

This is another shield vs armor tank thread so I guess I'd like to point out something from the stand point of someone who uses both shield and armor tanks.
PvP and to some extent PvE in EvE is mostly about timing when it comes to tanks. The pilot needs to know WHEN his tank is going to fail so he/she can plan accordingly.
Armor tanks fail linearly. Given the same amount of incoming DPS the amount of time it takes for your armor to go from 100% to 75% is the same as from 25% to structure. Very user friendly.
Shield tanks, which fail logrithmicaly (spelling?) go from I'm OK, I'm OK to Oh sh*T!! kinda suddenly. I feel this is somewhat less user friendly.
Discussions about fitting and HP per cap are moot. Shield transfer fitting requirements are the nail in the coffin. Focus fire (and for that matter nuets) kills shield tankers easier. IMHO.

Originally by: rodensteiner A good shield tank would preferably have more midslots available, especially on ships that don't carry shield bonuses (bonii?)
You were right the first time...it's "bonuses." Every time someone says "boni" or "bonii", God kills a kitten. And if he doesn't, I do. (Great arguments though.)
Well, glad I have that whole Shield VS Armor thing solved...

Armour plates add weight which slow down ships...Shields get recharge...The two tanking types are supposed to be different. Just because shield extenders give the ship a larger signature, does not mean that armour plates are at a complete advantage to shield extenders.

around 11 seconds later, you are in warp, regardless of any alignment issues.
No ship with an MWD on (Erm, titans perhaps?) should take more than 11 seconds to align and warp if they start off at zero speed.
Except one small problem. Once you hit Warp To, you cannot use your MWD. I miss the original Tri...jez

I agree with the pro's and cons of shield tank vs armor tank.
However - i would like to see an X-large Shield Extender with 4000+ additional hit points added to the shield - akin to 1600mm plates.

Is English your first spoken language?
Its exaggerated not exadurated. FFS the damn browser AUTO-CORRECTS typos...
'anyone else think this in imbalanced?' FFS...
If English is not your first language - I'm going to let the grammar go and move on to why your analysis is flat out misguided.
You're upset over the 'ability to escape' factor of buffer mods.
You've come to dramatic conclusions while ignoring...
- Base HP - Compare the hitpoints a 1600mm plates vs a large shield extender plate. - Ability of BS weapons to damage you - Specifically look at torpedoes reaching their max theoretical damage thanks to the extra sig bloom, although turrets will have an easier time to track you as well.
They're not imbalanced. Sig radius is more than just getting locked on to. Plates offer a tremendous buffer advantage over shield extenders (of course shields get to recharge so its OK).
Learn the game a little better before you whine about something. Also, if you are a native English speaker, you're a ****ing ****.

Now that the banana has been nerfed down to apple-height, obviously we're going to need to shave the apple towards banana thinness and paint it yellow.

Yes it does. But it mainly effects tracking
were you agreeing with me? or disagreeing badly?
I think it was pretty clear.
Yes it DOES affect lock time.
BUT it affects tracking to a greater extent.

there is no alignment after you jump through a gate. the aligning is visual only and the game considers you aligned to everything in system.
pulsing mwd accelerates you faster and when the mwd pulse is over, if you're at 3/4 or better max speed the ship will drop into warp.
your advice is good, just clarifying game mechanics.

I actually put a thread about this in the Features and Ideas forum. X-LARGE LINKAGE
People posted some good ideas, both for and against. I sort of doubt it caught the attention of anyone important, though.
