When they started the Gallente President story arc, I was hoping theyÆd give us a full election to coincide with the presidential elections in the States, and give us a conservative character to act as the opponent. Regardless, this is pretty cool; I hope that they give us a lot more opportunities to vote.
As it stands now, Foiritan kind of looks like an amalgam of Clinton (flamboyant, slick, if not slimy, man of the people) and Bush (power hungry, obsessed with terrorism, stubborn).
IÆll be voting ônoö . . . the constitution should not be changes to extend the presidential term of office. It isnÆt warranted at this time.

"As it stands now, Foiritan kind of looks like an amalgam of Clinton (flamboyant, slick, if not slimy, man of the people) and Bush (power hungry, obsessed with terrorism, stubborn)."
No kidding. When I read these, I'm wondering if the Icelanders aren't giving us Americans a clever little poke in the ribs regarding our own political climate. If so, keep it coming. Granted, I see things in a slightly different light then the above, more with parallels between Kerry and Bush Jr. then as a combination between Bush Jr. and Clinton.
I'm wondering though, exactly what kind of power do us pilots have? We're rich and powerful, sure, but we're also pretty detached, cosmopolitan in the extreme. Aside from agents, faceless passengers, and other pilots, players aren't even aware of other people. Rather then focus on the politics of leadership, can't we maybe focus on the politics of our position in Gallente society? The Monkeysphere |

Yes I know, I've just been waiting for a chance to take part in a Gallente-only competition of some kind. I DO applaud the devs for coming up with ways to involve the players in the ongoing story path, it's just that the last two times the players have had to do a lot more than say yes or no.

I don't think others should be allowed to vote.
Thats like asking another country to vote on the US Elections.
I've seen a lot of threads about this, with a lot of people saying 'no fair, we should be allowed to vote as well' .... with some people adding that it would increase the roleplay. I ask this, why the hell have a Gallente state if it can't choose it's own leaders?? Could you imagine if Gallente were able to influence the choice of leaders for the other states?
Keep voting for Gallente leaders to the Gallente.
Oh, and Starbrow, I thinks it's cool too :)

People, this is just another poorly scripted, badly written and simplistically designed non-event but by the looks of it, you don't deserve any better. Why? Because few if any of you manage to combine the ability to read - if you even possess it - with a faculty to understand. Just, err, like most electorates. So it doesn't matter what kind of crap non-event you get or don't get.
Hint: read the news again.
This isn't an election, let a alone a presidential one. This is a referendum on constitutional change. I might vote after I've read the constitution. Anyone's got a copy?

I know that. But I want an actual election. If the change passes, I want to be able to choose to vote for president either Foiritan, the senate guy, or someone else. If it fails, I want to be able to vote for the president as well. And I want it to affect me, too.

If this is to be a Gallente only referendum, I do hope that CCP restrict the voting to people that have been citizens of the Federation for at least a week.
This would stop people creating Gallente 'Alts' to corrupt the future of the Federation.

I'm tempted to correct that to "anti-climax" but anyway...
So, Oveur, do you have a copy of the constitution for me? I'd just like to figure out if changing constitutional provisions by referendum is at all constitutional. Might go some way to determine my own stance on this "issue".
Hell, I might even manage to write an opinion...

I see no need to restrict alts that have been in the game any longer than the announcement of the referendum.
Alts created after the announcement, solely to influence the election, should not be allowed, in my opinion at least.

This is just a change to the constitution so that there can be an actual vote. This event is scheduled to climax in December. There will be quite an amount of player participation.
The climax will determine what the Gallente do in the future, I'd save my breath until it all unfolds
o.O
Exciting. \o/
Although I hope that everyone wont make a damn alt and influence the election. All the huge numbers of caldari playing will probably sway the election...
