Edited by: Iasius on 09/07/2009 20:24:40 This mission is impossible for me solo: Using a shield rigged raven and cap boosting auguror on another account. You are supposed to destroy a jump gate but it takes ages. And the sheer number of npc's wizzing about creates lag when i want to insta-warp out to an aligned station.
Lost 2 rigged ravens to this stupid mission. So i want to avoid part 5 of this mission tree. I can delay the mission. For it to exprie with no standings loss But i still want to use the same agent. Any way around this?
EDIT: Seems like i can quit the mission with no standings loss if i dont quit another mission in 4 hours. Or am i wrong? Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. ~Saint |

Kill Mission Survival Guides
In the comments section on EA 5 of 5 there is a link to tactics using a Raven.
This mission is probably the toughest to solo, as the spawns are so friggin far away and you've got to take them out asap before the next spawn automatically pops up.
The above link may help, good luck.

Its either lag or a glitch that is the problem. Straight from the get go in the area i align to a station. I get webbed and for some reason raven cant acheive max webbed speed which makes the insta warp to station not possible. The blue speed bar sometimes does not go to the top.
So when i do want to insta warp my raven cant grrrr Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. ~Saint |

Edited by: Sir Bum on 09/07/2009 20:51:36 Enemies abound 5 is one of the hardest lvl 4 missions, and reading your post it looks like your skills are just pretty crap. You should try this mission in an Amarr laserboat and experience how hard this mission can REALLY be.

Edited by: Ghengis Tia on 09/07/2009 20:59:28 I've re-read the survival guides, not a whole lot of mention about warp scramming, but at the top they say support frigs web/scramble.
You may have a bug, report it, but if you've been scrambled you're SOL. I sicced my drones on the support frigs, can't remember being scrambled. Maybe my drones took care of them quick enough.

Its another toon that flies a T2 raven that has 26 mil sp and caldari bs 5 (apart from arbalest launchers). Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. ~Saint |

if you have an alt, the only thing you can do is add more dps.
i can now comfortably do the mission without warping out, popping all spawns (- a few cruisers).
here is a video i did a long time ago. I need to redo to be more legible, and without the warpouts.

Paladin and Abaddon will comfortably sit through it all(no stress). I've found the Navy/Apoc to be the one needing most care and I never tried with an Armageddon. It is a spectacular room though, very impressive to work through.

When mission guide says "web/scramble" they mean "NPC frigs web and warp scram". Anyhow, scram is something you need to consider EVERY time you head into a mission.
EA5 is by far the toughest lvl4 mission due to omnitank requirement and no triggers. It's a DPS race. You need to jack up your DPS as high as you can.
As far as tank is concerned, majority of mission is exp/kin damage. Only 4th wave (patriot ships) do thermal (like 80% thermal) and there's 6 of them, 3 BSes and 3 BCs. The other problem is Darkanas which shoot mostly EM damage and have a hellish shield tank. Only the last wave has 3 of them.
Strategies: 1. Kite. Jack up your target range really high. Your cruise missiles are good for 200+km. As soon as you warp in, head in the opposite direction from the gate. Eventually you'll be far away enough so you can relax. Looting this can be a real *****. 2. Get a better ship. I used to do this in a passively tanked CNR (20k shields, 200+ EFT passive tank with 3 BCSes and shield rigs) 3. Get an even better ship. Marauder works fine. My Nightmare can actually pop this mission after 4th wave (I get nice 2-3 minute breaks between waves...nothing to do but shoot the gate)

The whole trick of this mission is doing alot of dps. The triggers are timed, so just make sure you kill each wave before the next one spawns.

You can turn down a mission every four hours.
Eve is not a very difficult game, come on.

This.
My main does EA 5 of 5 in a laser boat, supposedly the worst damage type for this mission, and I get bored waiting for the next wave. Try changing your approach.

I believe the mission agent and the journal both mention this(killing them b4 the next wave comes in). However, they'll usually send a few more waves long before you pop the gate anyways. Besides... why waist the salvage?
I once sat and waited, it seemed like they do stop coming after awhile. But I also read that if you warped away and returned they would be more... can anyone confirm this? Does this mission offer an endless supply of wrecks :p

Doubleclick somewhere, shoot things while they aproach, alpha scrambling frigs or use drones if they get close. Leave gate for last. Solved! Doing it in apoc with np, and darkanas are suposedly a ***** for apocs. I rly don't know what's troubeling you in raven tbh

Edited by: Shatner19 on 10/07/2009 15:02:42 the chain of spawns are triggered once you warp in to the deadspace pocket. so if you warp out in between spawns, when you go back there will be more.
a special trick ive learned to deal with the damage is to move to within 10KM of the control tower in front of the gate. this can be done on arrival.
the first spawn is 1 darkana, 3 elite frigs (heavy missiles), should be easy to take out. second spawn is 2 phoons, 1 tempest, bunch of webbing frigs. tempest has the stronger tank. phoons do more dps but seem to be more fit for close range. third group spawns aproximately 50K behind the control tower. (perfect range for thorium, and well skilled bouncers). this is generally the hardest group to tank and destroy. the 60 KM should be enough time to take out at least 1 darkana, and all the phoons before they get in too close. the 4th spawn (freedom fighters - typhoons + bellicoses), will hit the hardest due to spawning so close to you. If you have not killed the 2nd darkana, move onto the typhoons because they will do more damage. 5th spawn is 3 darkanas + webbing frigs.
tl:dr: the real danger in this mission comes from the typhoons. good news is that they are AC fitted and wont deal the brunt of their dps until they are really close and they have the weakest tanks. Darkanas hit hard but also take a while to take down. this means that they should be secondary targets. cruisers can be left to the drones. if your done with the bs's take them out with guns/missiles. dont focus too much on them for now.

Cool! Can you confirm this is an endless process? If so... imagine the loot and salvage opportunities! I doubt CCP would of overlooked this though...

There are 6 waves in total that appear every 4 minutes (I think regardless if you're on grid or not)

Mission is very easy if you kill one wave before next appears.

It's also a very good way to test ones tank! Anyone who can aggro(and hold) the entire spawn has earned his pr her title imo.

This advice isn't universal. The 'phoons are easy to tank with rat-specific hardeners for the mission. The issue with Darkanas is that they deal non-rat-specific damage, which causes problems if you're rat-tanked and not omni-tanked. I always take those out first, along with the Patriots. I can tank those 'phoons with no worries for a while.
