So yeah, my job is pretty much screwed at the start of October... so I'll be looking for a new one and I'm thinking of a change of career.
At present, I'm an Engineer (Electrical, Mechancial, Hydraulic and Robotic).
Gimme some ideas... what does everyone who plays Eve do... and do you enjoy your job?

I sit at my desk and surf the forums during my shift while I play flash games. Sometimes I test something.

I'm a legal/company secretary for a company just large enough to be required by law to employ one and just small enough to never need me.
I have my own office with all the things you'd expect electrical wise and I basically just browse the net all day. Some days I don't even go in, I just call tell them I'll send all the "files" I worked on at home into the office via e-mail, When I do go in food and drink is free. Sometimes I tell a random employee "Hey, stop doing that, REGULATIONS!" and we all have a good laugh then I go back to my office.
To be honest, I LOVE my job

Edited by: Krystal Vernet on 11/07/2009 04:16:43 I help out on developing and update websites and applications for Johnson Space Center's HR office. Work for a company that has a contract for that kind of work there. :) Most of the time, I just surf the Internet, though. I don't quite actually have the training to do the heavy work the others do (in college to learn that stuff), so there's often a bit of a lull between the times when I do have some of the light work I can do (updating content, some of the basic computer fixing we can do, developing a simple application).
It's interesting. I learn a lot about various bits of stuff on the job from coworkers, the news about center events, and stuff like that. And it's part-time and pays well, so overall, a good job.
edit: The only annoying part about it is that when I tell people I work there, there's sometimes the question of something like "Oh, do you know ___? He's in building [#]". There's a lot of buildings, and a lot of people that work there. Odds are slim I know the people they ask about. >_<

Edited by: goodby4u on 11/07/2009 20:25:55 Pharmacist, in America anyways they make around 90grand a year and take only a couple of years of schooling.
I volunteered as a pharmacist(yes you can do that) on our airforce base when I was younger and believe me when I say this... It was easy as hell.
Basically you get an order of x amount of drugs and y amount of different kinds of drugs, type it into the machine and it will bottle it for you... Then you double check its the right medication and bag it, tag it and hand it out to the first person with ID.
EDIT:As for what I do, I am unemployed currently, however most of the jobs I have had I wouldnt recommend getting(since I am only 19).

You already play Internet space ships, so why not play with the real thing.
With the skills you listed, you should/can get a job in the aerospace industry pretty easily. Also most of the major players are in the Europe and Britain area.
There is.... Acra Control BAE EADS Astrium Air Bus
And many more! Just Google "aerospace companies in Europe" You will be surprised at how many there are.
Good Luck!

Start looking early for a new job and do not look here on the forum. Ask the job agencies. They know it best and let them know well ahead. Then they can find you a new job in an area of choice and with a good salary. -- "Smoke me a kipper. I'll be back for breakfast." - Ace Rimmer |

Yeah, I've been considering aerospace but I'm not sure as of yet. Lots of thinking to do.

I moved to the USA in October and I can't believe the BS when I get told I am too Qualified for the job I think US has some Fed up ways how they look for people who likes to work for a living.
I even found out Wal-mart more likely to hire you if your on support. Look food and unemployment So they get paid by the Fed government for hiring them. Also when I know people in DHS tell me wal-mart hires some right dumb people! Which I understand why Wal mart got the rep for having dumb staff.
So 8 months later I still unemployed :(

Has anyone told you that in most cities in the US there are temporary hiring agencies that will get you a job if you show up at 7am. They will find you a job whether or not you are overqualified

they do, i speak from experience since i am one. btw, a teller or financial service rep is not a banker!! just because you can open an account and make a deposit doesn't mean you know crap about making money with money. working in commercial lending is great, you get to crush dreams all day long. so many crappy business ideas, so little time to say no. sometimes i don't even bother answering my phone. other than that, good money, relaxed work environment, surf the net most of the day, expense accounts and access to good rates/financing for your own needs (car/house/boat). all this with a degree in history. i love it!!

Just finishing university (psychology, want to do a master next year. Am also an Electrical Engineer and studied Business Information & Automation) ..... maybe I'll go work for the government since there don't seem to be many commercial jobs
Or find a job in Somalia, I noticed some hearsay that they are in need of pirates since a lot of them got podded in their boats. If you put EVE on your CV then maybe......hmmm or not?
