my feedback is simple.
everything else is good.
the new inventory system needs to die, its unintuitive, unhelpful, very inefficient, hard to customise due to it working how a dev thinks players think rather than how players actually think (multi windows, well at least in my case), poorly implemented and adds no features that couldn't have been integrated into the old system.
Now having said that it would make a very nice assets system but as it is it feels like the devs have thrown away the UI and just exposed an ugly database structure with no relevance to the nature of the game. My ships are ships, not a file in a damn file system, I think of them as ships and therefore the old multi container multi window setup made perfect sense to me. Now this might improve as i get used to it but already its proving far more confusing and inefficient to use than I ever remember my first expereince with the old system to be which is a problem.
my perfect solution would be for the old system to return and a fixed up version of the "new and improved" inventory replace the assets system.
ps. It only gets worse if you need to do something quick in space, I guess ill forget about looting and salvaging from now on and mining has become an even worse chore.
pps. The new system is better for newbies??? How so, it throws away most mmo inventory conventions ensuring that any new players will be guaranteed to be confused rather than the old system where past experience would help them.

To be fair, I thought the old system was a little cluttered and took quite a few steps to do anything. I'll look at the new system and see what I think.
Newbie here btw.
Thats fair enough, I would never call the old system perfect with all its right click idiosyncrasies and hanger hijinx but the solution to such issues imo is not to throw out the established system and replace it with another one which requires more clicks. I know ill get shot for this but if my memory serves me well WOW, LOTR and other mmos while different from eve follow a new window per object approach that was similar to the old system so it might be considered an accepted wisdom way of doing things and therefore intuitive to a majority of newbies who have played another mmo or rpg. Now there is nothing wrong with innervation but it really should be aimed at areas that are actually in need of a complete overhaul(such as POS management atm). |
