It still surprises me how painfully unaware people are of suicide ganks and how harsh space can be, alot of carebears believe that they deserve to be reimbursed for it aswell.
To be honest though I think that this is a fairly blatant display of how stupid and overpowered suicide ganking still is. Sure, it's like the perfect target for a smartbomb run but this like nearly nothing to pull off. I laugh at the people who thought he spent over 100m to pull this off.
Funny stuff ^^

It's not the ganking that is overpowered imo but the fact you can do it so cheaply due to insurance. They should take it out of the game completely as far as I'm concerned...

You want to make it even harder to gank macro miners lol. You have plex so now you can build 18 or 20 man macro mining fleets that you pay for with isk. You have Orcas which now help you haul the obscene amounts of ice and ore your 18 man macro fleets strip. How is the player base suppose to police its sandbox. You cant war deck NPC corp macro miners.
You clearly don't speak from first hand experience, Empire macro ganking is neither cheap nor logistically easy. I know some like to claim it is but in the end you could make far more isk macro mining yourself then going through all the trouble of trying to gank them, lol.
A 18 man macro mining empire fleet can easily make over 320 billion a yr and that's after all the accounts have been paid for with plex, give me a break.
I salute those who have taken the time and isk to help rid EVE of whiney Bears and macro miners. We need a EVE classic, all the whiney bears are killing EVE. http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=corp&name=Cherri+Bombs

Ganking macro miners never put a dent in the population and never will. You can gank them 10 times and they STILL won't leave cause it's their job to run the macro accounts.
It amazes me, ppl who whine about carebears are bending over backwards to keep alive one of the most bearish aspects of the game: insurance. Getting a 100 million isk ship blown up with little to no loss in isk just doesn't fly with me. I don't even care how you get it blown up, through ganking or missioning or whatever. Having such a backup will only make ppl more complacent and bearish.
Insurance needs to be heavily nerfed, nerfed and after that nerfed again. Or they can just rip it from the gamecode completely as far as I am concerned.
But we're derailing this moderately ok-ish thread, let's not do that

There you go talking about things you don't have first hand knowledge about. Suicide smart bomb ganking BS is 75 mill fitted and that includes cost to insure. My fellow hoe bags and I and have driven macro miners from the game. You use locator agents and follow them, macro miners only play for profit and if you break their mining long enough and hurt them deep enough they will quit. Not being able to make their monthly plex bill for their fleet usually does it.
Unlike some of the other suicide gankers out their we pride ourselves in pod killing our targets, oh how bears hate to lose implants, lol

Ehrm, these people weren't macro miners, nor are macro miners exclusively limited to highsec space. However, I'd like to see highsec nerfed (alot) in addition to non-mutual wars in Empire being removed (in return the costs for war are lowered) along with suicide ganking.. Suicide ganks and empire wars are just cheap griefing, force people into lowsec instead and leave highsec as a hostel for newbies, trading, research and development and the scared carebears willing to deal with their earnings cut in half.
Lowsec should be like 0.0, with NPC sov, sentry guns and entry level 0.4-->0.1 rats (whilst still being profitable to hunt).
- And no I do speak from experience and suicide ganking is quite easy, the trick is to find a juicy target, the rest is cakewalk.

This event was what made me realise I needed to leave that corp. When I watched a video/vent of my own corpies being SG'd and damn near wet myself laughing.
Sir, I salute you. You have much bigger balls than I do, but mine are growing now I have joined a halfway decent corp. I applaude the arrogance in knowing you were going to create a whole lot of tears, and basically get away with it.
Myself, I had logged due to being so drunk I could barely see the screen, about 3min before this happened.
I don't care if this was ATT or ANY other corp, this was epic!

I don't know who you chased away from the game but they weren't professional macro-miners, like I said, they do it for a living and run like as much accounts as they can. If for some reason you were able to gank ships from 10-20 accounts per macro miner 24-7 you might be able to drive them away yes, but they would be right back the minute you stop harassing them.
And if I was running a macro-sweatshop and was getting followed around so badly I could not make profit anymore I'd just cancel the accounts and make new ones. Training up for a retriever doesn't cost that much time. Thanks to insurance you are also not inflicting heavy isk loss on them. Just hurting their yield. But the minute you go to sleep they will be back mining as Chinese X just got replaced by Chinese Y.
The ppl you ran out of the game were prolly a) not macro's or b) 'regular' players using a bot to cheat. But you did NOT drive out a single pro-farmer. Like I said: it's their JOB, they HAVE to keep doing it or they don't get paid by their slave driving boss.

No you have not. A true shop type macro-mining outfit will maintain a multitude of trained up accounts positioned in a variety of locations. If one outfit is getting targeted and harassed repeatedly, they will just switch to another set of accounts located elsewhere, and continue doing what their doing virtually uninterrupted.
You may think you've driven them away and made an impact, but past the initial disturbance all you've accomplished is having them log alternate accounts.
Insurance should at least be removed from concord killed ships, but it would be better if it was removed entirely. Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. It's way too easy to gank a ship many magnitudes more expensive than what you're piloting. The logistics would remain the same. You'd just have to be willing to put more on the line to accomplish your objective.
