I know its speed vs weapons....but wich do you guys prefer?
right now im leaning towards the assault side...because if im in a ceptor and get webbed...im boned
im going to use it to rat hunt in .1 - .4...maybe PvP once in a while

At any rate, I'd like to suggest the assault frig. Admitingly I haven't exactly FLOWN an assualt frig, but they do seem very, very damn awesome. Plus, if you get the enyo, is FLIPPIN PINK! It's a pink boat! Only thing holding me back currently is the price tag, once that baby comes down to 'ceptor level, and once my skills finish training, plan to see the pink terror.
Also, the assualt frigs are TANKED, so it's more of a speed vs. tankage debate =)

I know people rat hunt in 0.0 with interceptors and take down battleships. 10mn ab, spam missles w/crow...
With an assault frig the torps/cruise missles from a battleship would own you.
If your going to be hunting in 0.1 and above i would still recommend something like that since you basically can't die and if you do you won't lose a large sum of isk.

assault frig its a prequestit for h assault (cruisers)
u will so want 1.

I've been hunting 0.1 to 0.4 for months in a Crow (minmatar firepower 'ceptor). The assault frigates do seem unkillable (esp. the retribution), but they're still too expensive for my tastes.
wish you could try before you buy though :/

Crow is Caldari inty, Claw is Minmatar:)

They both have their merits, although the skill requirements for Assault frigates seem less harsh.If you're into combat you'll need Engineering V and Mechanic V anyway, the difference between Evasive Maneuvering IV and V is minimal though.

Well i tested a Enyo on Chaos today with pretty crappy skills,
Small Hybrid lvl 4
Assult lvl 1
and i managed to kill a Megathron pretty quickly he was armour tanked and i got in close he webbed me but even webbed his guns only hit 3 times.
Then later on TQ i was flying around in my Taranis and i saw a nasty frigate mem being me i charged it as i warp scrambled it i saw it was a Hawk, I started to worry about the safety of my taranis but he held out and the Hawk went pop so i would be inclinded to say they are both good and dont make the mistake that so many people have made by saying a ceptor will get owned by a Assult frigate because it is not true

Ahhh but Artegg - this is a taranis you're talking about. A light ion on a tarans does about the same damage over time as an ion on a megathron. Actually maybe even a neutron. So obviously a taranis would win since they do ungodly damage...

i still think a interceptor is better to start with
aussaul frigs are pretty risky, cause you have low chance to escape from enemy frigs, and no you wont be able to kill them all when 3 interceptors start to pund you, thy will even dont notice that you had a aussault frig 
this together with the higher price of a aussault frig (nearly double) you should start with interceptor
