Has anyone noticed that you get Eve ads like EVERY WEBSITE YOU EVER VISIT? At first I thought that they were just running a MAJOR campaign, but then I realized that it must be something different... the system CCP is using must be using some sort of targeted advertising (cookie data, etc?). The problem is, people who are already Eve players are getting a TON of ads -- you (CCP) might check to make sure ads are being shown to actual non-players, lol. FWIW :)

Oh I am well aware of adsense, but not entirely sure that's what CCP is actually using.

I like the fact that they target me with ads. It means that I can see how ****ing carebear they are making the ads... Like the one with the guy mining in a figate and the isk bar at the bottom with week one - 500,000 isk, month 3 (hes mining in a hulk now) 150 million isk or some **** then year one and hes running a mining op in an orca with liek 2bn isk in his wallet....
[cruise control] MAKE ONE WITH EPICZ PVP WITHOUT LAG OR AT LEAST HAVE THE MINING OP ONE HAVE ANOTHER SCENE WHERE THE OP GETS SUICIDED AND THEY LOSE ALL THEIR ****ING ISK!!! i like how the commercial for eve on tv shows a player ramming his ship into a station to blow the station up. is that even possible? i'm waiting for the whines on the forums from new players about not being able to blow up stations by ramming them.

The OP makes sense, unusual for this forum, targeting your existing players with adds is useless. CCP, please advertise to new audience only, we need to grief them into tears and then read their whine stories on WOW forums about how evil Eve players are

Contracted their advertising to a company that specializes in that, probably. Which means it's probably all over the place, including AdSense, which is why you're seeing them all over the place.
You basically fit the bill as an ideal recipient of that ad. :)

It's not possible. It was a storyline teaser vid for the Empyrean Age expansion. Linkage

Edited by: Mendolus on 15/07/2009 16:03:41 With the influx of new players since Apocrypha they are probably trying to do two things:
1) Keep reminding those new players that EVE is the game for them, esp. after they lose an 80,000,000.00 ISK rigged Hurricane in low security after spending their first four weeks in the game grinding to death to purchase one. Btw, that member never logged on again so I had to kick him. Guess he learned his lesson, eh? But CCP lost a sub.

2) Reinforce casual browsers with the notion that EVE is there waiting for them, as they search for potential MMOs looking for one that suits them. Nothing like having someone browse your website or related content once or twice and lose interest or forget about it, then up pops an ad with a lucky pitch that reels you in.

God, that ****ing site. Cool concept, but folks who use its twitterspam component to tell the world when they launch EVE is just annoying.

Actually, not many people really run adblock, it seems.
And then, theres people like me who have trouble actually SEEING ads, because we've trained ourselves so much to ignore them. If theres a button i need to click on a site, but it looks like an ad, I can never find it, haha

This thread needs more adblock.
I'd totally forgotten there were these things called "adverts" on the internets until now.

The internet add is also ... not very annoying.
When I watch it, I would think it is a "Ogame like" MMO-for-internet-browser :s

It does, when it wants to work properly and you aren't driven insane by shield hardener effects.
