since I posted last, many changes have been made and several fixes have been introduced.
So I can actually use the new inventory system for day to day operations. And I am glad that I will get my separate ships and item windows permanently in station again.
Nonetheless, the inventory system was not broken and I dislike the new system. There was no reason for this damn UI to be built in the first place. The old UI worked great for 9 years. 3 of which I have been playing EVE.
Never once in my 3 years of gameplay being in large 1000 man plus alliances have I seen or heard a single complaint from anybody about the old inventory system. It never came up in mumble, vent, or teamspeak. It also never came up on any alliance forums, nor typed in our alliance or coalition Jabber channels.
In fact, I have never seen or heard a single player of EVE Online anywhere say "I wish they would change the inventory interface." I'm sure some people have, but through my average daily interactions with EVE and its players for the last 3 years, I never saw or heard any.
To me, this means it was working properly in the first place and the players didn't mind it. I am sure some people hated having a lot of windows open, but I personally prefer lots of window. I can quickly and easily move things around with them. I know many miners and logistics jump freight pilots who also like having multiple windows, as well as corporate officers who need to actively use the corporate hangers in stations and in POS setups.
Everybody I know in EVE Online through my corporation, alliance, and coalition has said they preferred the old inventory system.
We've been through this before, CCP. EVE is indeed your game. But in a more accurate sense, it is our game. You own the rights and in the end have final say over its direction, but we the players feel very connected to the game. And to suddenly **** with something this core to daily gameplay when the vast majority of us like it as it is can only cause friction.
Thank you for making these fixes. It will help, but in the end you screwed with a very big part of our game and even if you fix it, a lot of people will remain frustrated that you did this to something that was not broken in the first place. |
