Hi I'm after some suggestions/Help with how I should use two characters in level4/5 missions.
My main Character has about 7mil skill points cant use tec2 guns as yet and unable to use sentry drones as yet.
My character is Gallante and I currently can fly megathron and training to fly an Ishtar. I have read in the eve help files that this can be set up to tank huge dps http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/Ishtar_%28Fitting%29#Level_5_capless_passive_tank.
Not sure if this is the correct path or not but one I'm heading in.
The second Character has about 5mil skill points, and I had focused on Mining skills with this character but recently trained it to fly battlecrusers.
Also Gallante.
If I carry on with the Ishtar with the main character but what would be a good back up ship to support the main with. I was thinking that I would only need to take care of the frigates that may swarm the Ishtar as well as maybe provide some remote shield or the like. The ship I was thinking of was the Myrmidon I already have one and it can carry lots of drones. (Also its relatively cheap)
I will try the suggested fit outs for the Ishtar as in the attached link but the second ship I have no idea.
Look forward to your responses.

Edited by: Contralto on 19/07/2009 11:26:36 I would suggest cross training your second pilot for Drake then Nighthawk. he can tank the rooms while you damage fit your main. you can also fit a shield harmonizing link and with a mindlink get a 22.5% boost to shield resists. When i ran lvl 4's I fit the Drake with tractors and salvagers rather than launchers, drones are sufficient for the frigs.
This isn't necessary for lvl 4's, in fact 2 damage dealers is a faster way to run those, but Once you get onto lvl V's the Nighthawk is great for passive tanking and taking out the frigs and cruisers with drones and launchers. Again tanking for the damage dealer so it can be fit for max damage with only an emergency escape tank.
My own setup builds on this with a third pilot in a remote 7 warfare link Vulture for max bonus on shield resists of 25.875%, plus reduced sig, the 3 armor links + a web link for the Kronos
I am currently skilling my tanker for the Ishtar and Sentries which I intend to use for kin/therm Lvl V's, Ishtar wont handle the EM and Exp missions without remote repping.
My main already flies the Ishtar but I prefer the kronos as damage dealer due to its 40km tractors and large cargo bay.

Ishtar is ok if your tanking therm/kin not so good against angels drones or minmatar.
second ship should be a support domi, with sentries.
ive run an ishtar with a support domi and a raven for damage. I suppose you could run the ishtar and domi, will just take a long time killing stuff with drones. I dont know if you have enough skill points though to make it viable for just to ships, have a go on sisi first i suggest.

Thanks for the feedback.
My original intention was to train to Kronos but the billion + price tag caused me to detour a bit so I can run the higher level missions and gain the isk (as well as the experience) to pay for the kronos.
To cross train the main for nighthawk will take me another 80 days to fly the ship. So I might leave that path for now as IÆm only 14 days from the ishtar.
The second character i will train to fly the domi ( keep going in that direction until I get to megathron and beyond)as suggested by Feed Bowl. I have no illusions that it wont be quick initially but as I train up the characters in the strengths of both ships it will improve (well thatÆs the plan any way). In the mean time it will be interesting if nothing else.

If you like gallente ships then it might be also worth considering to train for dual dominix. It's somewhat different running style with 2 battleships than with Bs+BC, but it should work ok.
Stick chars together, both more gank than tank setups. If one starts getting too heavy damage and another one is ignored you can use remote reps. Also stick drones on your main char either in assist or guard mode and you wont need to alt tab as mutch. As Dominix has rather large cargo bay you might even be able to carry extra flight of logistic drones to stick on whoever happens to take way too heavy damage for your liking. With only 7 and 5 mil SP tanking can be issue, depending where that SP is.
Would stay away from level 5 with that tho.

Change resists for rat specific though both ships would struggle to tank heavy EM damage due to low base resists. -----------------------------------------------------------

This Ishtar fitting will need a +1 CPU with all l5, but gives nice defence indeed.

Thanks for the feed back.
I have been playing around within my skills and the ships I have at the moment while I await the training to complete on the ishtar and came up with the following.
Meagathron to supply the dps and a dominic to draw agro - Only looking at Level 4 missions
[Megathron,Megathron Mission Ship] Large Armor Repairer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Capacitor Power Relay II Large Armor Repairer II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
425mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge L 425mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge L 425mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge L 425mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge L 425mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge L 425mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge L 425mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge L Large Remote Armor Repair System I
Ancillary Current Router I Capacitor Control Circuit I Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Ogre I x5
I have been using this setup in level 3 missions and no issues, of course level 4 will be a step up. I can run both repers indefinitely and all guns stable at 45% by eft.
DPS: 486 VOLLY: 1907
[Dominix, Dominix] Large 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I Large 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I Capacitor Power Relay I Capacitor Power Relay I Emergency Damage Control I Adaptive Nano Plating I Basic Thermic Plating
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I, EMP M 650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I, EMP M 650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I, EMP M 650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I, EMP M 650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I, EMP M 650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I, EMP M
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Hammerhead I x4 Hobgoblin I x5
DPS: 129 VOLLY: 915
Nothing in the rigs I suppose IÆm a little pessimistic as to the life span of this ship. All i want this ship to do is draw agro and deal with the frigates and if im lucky may be throw some dps a little down range (I suspect it all adds up)
I have the remote repair on the megathron to help this ship. I have never used this module before so it will be a learning curve to. I was thinking of orbiting the dominix with the Mega with in range and use it as needed.
Look forward to your thoughts.

Level 4s are quite easy and your setups will do fine in them until you learn more about PvE and such. Level 5s are a different kettle of cheese. If you are genuinely keen on doing lvl 5s with 2 characters then it's very possibly but it takes a serious commitment to training up appropriate ships and using expensive equipment such as a marauder.
