I know that wherever humans/hardware/software is involved, it is normal that problems arise. I think CCP does a very good job.
However with all these extended downtimes and hiccups lately, I think it's time to add a day of gametime to everybody's account again! We are at least all paying for being able to play 28/30/31 days a month 23 hours a day (not that we can, but we're paying for it).
After this unexpected downtime today it's the third time in a month, I lost training time and gametime because of the server going down unexpectedly. Does anyone know if petitioning for lost training time has ever resulted in "reimbursement"?

You do relieze how bad this sounds right?
1- Get up from the computer
2- Go outside
3- Hang with some friends...go meet a member of the opp. Sex. Eve shouldn't rule your life

Simple answer, NO.
You've lost how much time from 3 extended DTs? A few hours maybe? that's worth $0.50, maybe. Not gonna happen.
CCP only reimburses when it's several DAYS of lost gametime, not a few hours.
And remember to follow the simple rule that if there's a patch, DON'T train a short term skill.

Another thing... Consider what Australians have to put up with.
1. Every downtime falls smack bang in the middle of gaming primetime.
2. Every EXTENDED downtime usually obliterates that day's gaming completely.
That's right. Us Aussies get the normal downtime at 8:30pm ACST, finishing at 9:30pm ACST. And the extended downtimes are usually 7:30pm ACST to 10:30pm ACST, effectively obliterating a whole day of play. Never mind how we lose an hour of play out of our primetime every single day.
So, quit whinging about losing a few hours every here and there. It's way worse for many others.

1 - i don't have all day to play eve, but when the server should be up normally i want to be able to play
2 - i don't know where you live but it has 10ŚC and it was raining yesterday
3 - eve does not rule my life, i am away for a week or so quite often because of my job, and i have a GF
because of what i stated above, you do realize that i can't be picky about "when" to train my short term skills...
Edit: F'nog, i don't know where you are from, but people like Darkwolf have lost more than a "few hours". I find it unfair to everyone else that you don't care because you seem to be able to play all day or are in a timezone where neiter dt or the hiccups affected you.
Edit2: check this out... oh, and it was a content update, not a patch...
Edit3: spelling

I "don't care" because there's nothing that can be done about it. If you read the EULA it clearly states that CCP does not guarantee that the game will run at all times. That pretty much takes care of any unscheduled DT.
Frankly, I think CCP has gone above and beyond the need by giving us the free time they already have. I don't know of any other game company that does that (please let me know if there are any).

And it's down again...
I'm new to eve, I thought the 1 hour a day was excessive but I could cope with it as I find the game very interesting. What's annoying at the moment is constant server hassles, the support side of things really does seem like a bit of a joke.
Eve doesn't rule my life but when I want to play it (out of downtime) I want to play it! We all pay for a service and as good as it is I think we have the have right to expect a certain quality.
Please don't take this the wrong way but I'm just shocked how regular problems seem to be.

I manage a medium size IT enterprise that deals in WAN gaming products and I can understand the sorts of issues that would affect this sort of environment on an on-going basis. I don't hold this against CCP in any way - no hardware or software is infallible. However, as an Australian I have to agree with previous posts about the disadvantage we have with our timezone. For those of you defending the quality of CCP support, I salute you, but keep in mind that an extra days account time is a relatively soft cost and quite often placates your customers enough to retain those thinking about moving on. This saving alone would more than cover any lost short-term income. It is just as unfair to attack those asking for the extension as it is to attack CCP for the faulty hardware and lost gametime.
