You know, with the way the character portait designed is made, you could take a frame-by-frame approach and animate someone's character!!!
It would be amazing if you could see someone character speak by assembling these images together into a movie...
Hmm...starts Windows Moviemaker...

That remember me an experiment (very experimental =p) that I done some months ago ( http://sarok.free.fr/eve/ENN-001.avi )
I used a website to animate it, but it's closed now, I try to find program to do the same, but all work with 3D prog.
If you want to make this frame-by-frame, good luck :)

Already forms part of AvonBlog. Preliminary site should be finished today, just banging out the content whilst at work. Could really do with an opening guest as I don't have access to my home emails here. If there are any takers, now would be a good time to speak up, I could have you on the site this evening. ______________________________________________

if you animated the character potraits... well, they wouldn't be portraits then, would they? if you want to make animations out of game then fine, but i think developer time is better spent on other content tbh |

AWESOME!!! AvonBlog was great.
1. Can you move the head? Seems kinda unatural that the head is fixed.
2. Would it be possible to stream a real human voice with the text instead of computerese?
This is exactly what I was thinking about!!!

Moving the head would involve a lot of manual editing of the graphics, I'm not sure if I am up to it.
As for human voices, absolutely, it works great. The only real problem is filesize, but I can stream them on the flash version (coming, er, eventually) so that might not be an issue.
The Guest section can either have a computer generated voice or an audio stream, but I'll keep the other sections text-to-speech only for now. ______________________________________________

Could you have multiple portraits that change the position of the head, body and then restart talking?
If you could move the head and body between paragraphs (a different portait is loaded), then continue talking it would be more natural since people generally change positions and make macro body movements between ideas or, in your case, between paragraphs.

The software is 'CrazyTalk Web Edition' from a company called Reallusion
The software costs about $70, but it seems worth it. I've had a lot of fun with it so far. There is a free trial too.
