Where is the captcha audio playback for visually impaired players?
This new login captcha blows took me about 3 minutes and 10 tries to get one I could actually read enough to enter the details.
I can only imagine if they upgrade it as many are eluding that they should and incorporate color into it, I'll be totally screwed.
Now I realize something needs to be done about the spamming. But this kind of knee-jerk reaction without pondering the ramifications is just wrong.
I understand that I may be in the minority here. Probably only one of a handful of players in this game that is legally blind.
Most websites that utilize this have some sort of workaround for visually impaired members, be it audio playback or specific account capcha exclusion.
CCP Please! take a few extra minutes and consider your actions carefully when you decide a final resolution to this. I would really hate for myself as well as other disabled players to be excluded or hindered from participating simply cause I have a disability and you can't be bothered to make a simple change that would help out tremendously.

Not only that, the captcha was to 'prevent' the spammers. It didn't work. Remove it. |

I am not TOTALLY blind. My vision is 20/200 corrected plus I also suffer from color blindness. I play eve at 1024x768 on either a 21" NEC CRT or a 32" Olevia LCD monitor. I have the fonts jacked up as large as they will go and sit about 10" away.
Plus having played for 3 years i have most of the button locations memorized :)

TBH I have trouble with captcha myself. Too many hours in a dark room with not enough natural light really takes its tool.
I have perfect vision, technically, but I still find them intensely annoying and a time sink and yeah, like a lot of people, I usually end up doing it more than once before I get it right.
I can't imagine how someone with poor eyesight would feel having to do that crap every time they visit the forum.
Seems like a short term solution to a long term issue?

I personally don't like it, and it must be awful for visually impaired people. Does it even work anyway?

Captcha is not the most effective way of preventing spammers by now... surely?

Is there much of a blind EVE playerbase? I'm not trying to discriminate, I'm genuinely curious, though I would imagine it would be like trying to complete a rubix cube with your feet while blindfolded  |

I am locking the "Captcha" threads here on General Discussion and redirecting to our official announcement. It is our hope that the Captcha will be removed in the very near future once our various teams tomorrow implement a better solution.
