What do I need to transport a cruiser and a frigate around? Even once packaged they still seem too large to fit into an industrial's (Iteron) hold. Thanks |

Train Gallente Industrial up, as it boosts your cargo space. Also you can fit mods that increase your cargo hold. An Itty MkV with focused solely on hauling can easily exceed 25k enough for 2 cruisers and 2 frigs. ---- --- --- Devs Sign Here; GMs and ISD welcome to :) |

Edited by: Pan Dora on 25/07/2009 03:09:24 Training gallente industrial will give you ascess to bigger iterons, (there is one to each skill level). Also Expanded cargohold II just requires Hull upgrades at lvl 2 and increase you cargohold by 27,5%, it takes 1 low slot.
However, if you are not planing to train for the iteron V, I sugest you take a look at the Bestower it have a 4800m¦ cargohold and 4 low-slot, all that just requires amarr frigate III, amarr industrial I.

If you don't mind to train the appropriate Industrial skill to IV the Mammoth is the way to go.
It has got about 2500 m¦ more cargo (both at skill IV, required level for the Mammoth), faster align time and more effective hitpoints than the Bestower.

Thanks for the advice!
Follow up question: How do I know what is the largest container I can put in the hold of a ship?

The largest is a Giant Secure Container - takes up 3000 m3 and fits 3900 m3 worth of stuff. Note that ships and some items cannot be placed inside a container.
The items that cant go inside include: other containers, all ships (even packaged), livestock and other "living" things, and I think Enriched Uranium (might be wrong on the last one). To my knowledge, all modules and rigs can be placed inside. I remember the Enriched Uranium from when I used to scavenge it from destroyed mission structures. It is odd if it won't fit inside containers though, since it is one of the fuels that are required to operate POS's. I might have it confused with another item that drops from deadspace structures.
Lastly, if you're only planning on training a racial industrial to IV, I strongly recommend Minmatar, like the poster above. A T1 rigged, T2 expanded Mammoth holds up to 28.3K m3. If all you care about is carrying the most you can, and are going to level V, then Gallente is the way to go. Iteron V's also have the advantage of being more generally available than Mammoths in remote regions of space (0.0, especially). That said, I fly Minmatar Transports on my main occasionally, and the Prowler is also an excellent ship. T1 rigged, it holds over 8K m3, while still being able to travel well over 1.2 km/sec with a MWD. In fairness, I'll note the same character can fly every T1 industrial, but I still prefer the Minmatar ones for their align speed advantage.

Edited by: Zephyr Mallory on 25/07/2009 23:05:05 You won't be able to transport anything larger than a frigate in an industrial ship, packaged, but very few cruisers and smaller (currently, will change after Apoc1.5 is released) are rigged. Best solution is to repackage them to make them fit better.. OR... Create a courier contract and hope someone with a freighter is willing to do the legwork for you. There are several corps offering freighter service, you can inquire about their pricing in one of the other forums, which I am currently far too lazy to look up myself.
(Last time I checked, the only way to transport an assembled ship in a non-ship maintenance bay was if the ship was in a courier contract)
