Is this doable in a paladin? i spent 30 min trying do but i than i had to switch to my dominix. those tracking distruptors gave my tachs the tracking of a sieged dread and the range of a small blaster.
any tips on how to do this?

Drones. And maneuvering parallel to the target to reduce transversal velocity. Did it in a Abaddon with Dual Heavy Beams, when my fitting skills weren't good enough to properly fit Megabeams. It can be done, but it's terribly annoying. -------- Ideas for: Mining

Edited by: Josorna on 25/07/2009 18:31:51 I've lately been doing this in my megabeam abaddon.
Initially, it was hard and required warpouts due to not hitting anything. But lately, I just sit in the middle and nuke them from there. Drones take the smaller ones, but it's the beams that take the TD cruisers.
But as for how to do it. First, realize that it's the range disruption that prevents you from doing damage, not the tracking. Having Infrareds redyced from 69km optimal to less than 20km seriously hurts dps if they get to that point (this needs ~5 TD's at the same time, not too common here). Generally once wave 1 spawns, I just fit in infrareds instead of multifreqs and blast the cruisers before they get too close for the tracking part to be of problem.
After wave 1 is taken care of, it's cakewalk.

Grab a cloak, take them out at a distance, trust me it's much easier than duking it out with the scrams.

This mission is easily doable in a Paladin.
Take some long range crystals and accept a drop in DPS when distrupted. I find I can usually take out any of the problem frigates at 80km before i'm even disrupted once. Then it's simply a case of chewing through the remaining ship types that can disrupt. Once they get within 60km, Johnny drone will get them.
If you are worried about the mission taking longer, simply kill off the trigger BS from the first spawn immediately and ignore the remaining BS. Should you get extremely unlucky and get TD'd into oblivion while everything is still at range, you should still be able to hit the remaining original BS that are much closer.
I suppose this must be my sig. I'll do something cool with it eventually. |

I recommend missile boat or drone boat. Turret boat is no go because you're heavy distruped.

never really had a problem with this one. I use 2 tc2 with scripts and keep the transversal down. Hammerhead II's for when they have like 5 or more on me but its all good in 40 seconds anyways. I still do it faster in my paladin than my golem.
I assume your gunny support skills are good since you're in a paladin...
