Still have my fingers crossed that killmails will include remote reps provided, so logis can be given credit for trying to keep people alive.
Next step from that would be a true battle report. |

Never mind the changes, i'm more concerned about why you'd need a Gas Bay flag integrated into the API. That isn't something you do 'just in case' you add a feature, that's pretty much confirmation that a gas ship is in the works that has a dedicated gas holding bay. If it was a 'just in case' after all, why specifically that name? Of all the names a placebo could have, that's definitely the least conspicuous
Oh and nice stuffs for API users, good job to you guys, but when are the eve-o item inventory pages gonna get completed/updated? The AF stats are still pre-crucible and numerous stuff has only placeholder pages or no formatting. Probs the wrong thread, but API->data->wiki seems like a logical progression to me.... |

dunno if anyone suggested it before but here it goes:
Parsing is always something horrible to do even more when names of stuff keeps changing. Why not, when copying the kill report, give a second option of copying it to the clipboard with the API format or some other ItemId format?
This way, Killboards dont have to parse names improving their performance and when you change item names we dont have KB's broken until a new DB dump is released and propagated to the KB's!! |

Under the old system, you would copy/paste the mail in order to pass it around to your buddies in-game via eve mail or by pasting bits in the chat box. Later on, this started to be replaced with copy/pasting links to a 3rd party killboard.
Now that KMs are linkable - it makes a lot more sense that the "copy to clipboard" feature of the in-game KM would spit out a XML formatted version. I'm not sure we lose anything by making that change, and we gain a whole lot.
Note: The XML of the killmail needs to include *both* the ItemID and the current Item name. Or CCP needs to introduce another API call which can be used to convert ItemID into ItemName (exists already?).

The gas ship will probably be inferior the moment it is realized much like that PI hauler nobody remembers. Why? Moas and other cruisers are effective becausee small sig + lots of mid slots + eccm = really really hard to combat cruiser which buys you extra seconds. |

I'd rather see them on the opposition killmails a support category, at the moment the killmails have involved parties list keep that as it is but add a support list that has everyone who provided remote support (reps, remote SeBo, Remote ECCM etc) to anyone on the first list |

Or CCP needs to introduce another API call which can be used to convert ItemID into ItemName (exists already?). No, itemNames aren't necessary. Of course, having them would simplify human reading, but they are not required for KBs to parse them properly - most of the killboards have synched itemIDs from the CCP's static data dump. Player, alliance and corp names, on the other hand, are required, because those are not part of the static data and the related IDs may not be synched across the killboards (or may not exist at all). In short - YES to killmail xml format! But keep the button for copying the plaintext around, just in case :) |
