Aww, there I was hoping they were going to add some kind of small drug smuggling bay that would let you move small quantities of drugs through highsec, with a small risk of being caught. Like the millenium falcon. Spaceship rectal smuggling ftw. |

When are you going to provide killmails where items are identified by their ids? Isn't that the logical thing to do? There's a lot of issues with killmail parsing when module names change (and that happened quite a lot recently, and will probably continue on happening in the future).
- Change module names
- Release item db dump

I might sound bitter, actually I am bitter. Let me see if I have the chain of events down:
1. CCP Changes the format of the Kill Reports copied from the client, every item in KR gets a slot location 2. Fails to tell us about that 3. CCP Change the format of the Implants in the Kill Reports, implants no longer get a slot location 3. Doesn't tell the community about that 4. CCP Reverts all those changes back to pre-Inferno format right after downtime without a single notification or post about it 5. CCP publishes a Devblog about changes to Kill Report API, post-change. At least the format is the same.
So what can we gather from all this? That we get fairly superfluous new data about the items that were lost in various cargo holds, but we wont get any of the really wanted features, like the Self Destructs being noted on the Kill Reports. Or the fact that even CCP's own in game Kill Reports show stupid data like Tornado shooting Tornadoes, or the fact that some KRs show which gun type was used in the kill while others show the ammo type. Consistency? Its overrated, I guess.
So what do we the loyal player base get? We get two days of broken Kill Reports, we get to fix our 3rd party apps that support your game, we get to do that under the gun only to have that all reverted back without so much as a word in advance. We get to fix the Kill Reports yet again and then we get served with a Dev Blog telling us about features we never wanted or cared about. News flash, our killboard can already handle all the fitted slots and pilots don't give a **** from which Bay the item dropped / destroyed as long as it shows up on the KR.
And next time you do make a change on the tons of people who support the tools without which your game would be unplayable, do tell us in advance. |

It is very much the logical thing to do. A lot of people in house have strong opinions about it and to be honest it is ridiculous to be expected to maintain a copying of kill reports from the client this way. How about we just export them from the client in the same format as the API does? https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/CCP%20Tuxford/StatusUpdates |

ammo can be changed on a reload - if this happens the KR might just show the gun used?

How about we just export them from the client in the same format as the API does? Now that would be frikkin' awesome. It would sort a lot of compatibility issues that exist since eve localization started and somewhat future-proof the parsers so the developers won't cry bloody tears every time CCP releases a patch (i'm an killboard dev myself so i can understand the rage). Or even, just add the button "copy as xml" and leave the old plain text format (i'm pretty sure there are people who would like retaining access to old-style plaintext mails - i still have a stockpile of my killmails from since when they were still actual mails - yes, i'm that old).
The most important part - you and us (the 3rd party devs and players) agree that plaintext killmails are a thing of the past, now, what do we do about it? |

That would at least be consistent. Having a graphical representation for the kill itself helps this cause quite a bit, since there's no longer a need to keep killmails in human readable form. |
