If you flying you ship manually and keeping transeverse velocity under 100 against any ship you firing on - it is VERY VERY easy to achieve a miss rate of less then 5% with 720s on a rupture (or any ship that you attempt this with).
Many people don't realize this - maybe you do, but Weirda have many combat logs (when trying different long range setups) where the miss rate was 3%/1.5%/etc... You simply HAVE to pay attention to the Transverse velocity stat. It is even easy to hit frigates with battleship guns (well - stupid ones at least) by getting the transverse below 100... -- Thread Killer

Thanks Weirda. Although I admit to not checking the transverse during these particular engagements, I have to reiterate that I was stationary. No movement on my part at all and the npc's were coming in a straight line for me. I will try it again to see exactly what type of transverse speed that gives me, but I would assume it is rather low with my 0 velocity.
Now if I can just get back ingame again to try some of this stuff out.

You would be very surprized - the rarely come at you with a transverse < 100... They come in at angle (different angles too) - an easier way to get transverse is to use the 'keep at range current' and you will go away from them in the same direction that you going - or like Weirda say, fly manually and it is easy to get transverse < 20 (great practice for using battleship guns to hit frigates too)... -- Thread Killer
