Flotwell. In AMAX no one is quite certain why Flotwell joined the corporation. All they know is that he was very happy to get into combat, and that a childlike amazement was in his eyes whenever he heard a sermon from Shamir Soza or Graelyn about the glory of God and the Kingdom to come.
Flotwell wasàdifferent. Though he was in his early twenties and he youngest member in the corporation, his attitude and maturity were that of a young child. No one could tell if he was just acting silly, or if he had some sort of disorder, but in combat he always performed with dedication and bravery, and in prayer he was always pious.
Flotwell had a fair share of odd stories to go along with him. One night AMAX interceptor pilot Rain Ocampo awoke from her slumber with Flotwell hunched over behind her, caressing her hair for minutes as she lay frozen in abject terror. With an disturbing sound, he left her there alone once again. She never spoke to him about it, but slept with a knife from that point on.
Another instance in combat Flotwell was commanded by Russo to draw the enemy out by baiting them with a frigate. His reply was a childish ôWahhhhö over the comm. Channel. For a minute Russo was speechless. That was not something that happened often. Flotwell did obey his order eventually though and some enemy kills were achieved.
Speaking of enemy kills. I remember many times when a ship has been destroyed and an escape pod can be seen emerging. A strange noise from Flotwell comes over the comm channel and rattles the nerves of any who might be listening. A mix of panting and maniacle laughter, the sound reaches a climax as Flotwell achieves lock on the escape pod and warp scrambles it and opens fire.
There is no morale to this story. It was only written to show that Flotwell isàweird.

I wish I could say that the incident with Rain was isolated...
...needless to say I, among many others in my squadron, sleep very well armed indeed!
But think, if this is the terror Flotwell insitlls in his comrades, imagine how his enemies must feel!

I still wake in the middle of the night, trembling with fear, grabbing for my knife. That was the first and last time I've been afraid, i hope I'll never experience anything like it again.
In combat Flotwell is a great pilot, it was always an honour to go into combat with him.
Congratulation on your promotion, I know you will give your enemy's Hell.
I am glad that i am not one of them.
