Edited by: Braddict on 02/10/2004 23:59:03 Missles with effects instead of damage, such as :
Webify, Warp Disrupt, Target Jam Missles : Work same as modules except they are deployed in warhead form. Recipient is slowed or jammed accordingly by it's effect for a fixed amount of time until it expires, can be increased with skills. Different missle grades with higher strengths could be available or just just leave them at very minimal strengths to maintain game balance.
Primary use would be for long range, drawbacks is that they could be destroyed before reaching their target along with being slow as a result of being in missle form.
Other examples could include are missles that temporarily reduce shield resistance, boosting or recharge rate.
The ideas are limitless.

This would be cool...esp. because it will help caldari out a bit after the missile nerfs.

I have no problem with specialize missiles as long as there was:
1. Improved Defender missiles were implemented. 2. Anti-missile Laser Turret 3. Anti-missile Projectile Turret (Phalanx gun basically). 4. Anti-missile Drones (drones seak and destroy incoming missile)
If those were implemented then I would have no problem with these improved missiles types.

Oh, and add specialized drones that can do the same as these specialized missiles.

EW is supposed to get a massive makeover sometime in Shiva anyway. I'd say lets wait-and-see for that to happen, if it happens. Right now I'm concerned about over-powering the Caldari with these new items. Caldari are mid-slot strong (which lends it self to shields and electronic warfare) and missile strong (largest number of missile hardpoints for any class of ship). Giving the ability to effectively use your med slots for shield tanking and your HIGH slots for EW or both sets of slots for EW is too much IMO. (I know shield tanking is difficult to do with the cap relay nerf, but I still.) This also unbalances the Amarr, who have few launcher hardpoints and few med slots and therefore can't really do either.
My 2 isk anyways... Raymond Drake Weaver of the Dream DreamScape Corporation DreamScape Digest Editor-in-Chief |

True, Caldari are a little strong already with their ships having the most launchers along with missles having a fixed damage amount & the most slots for EW. What I suggested would only push them up the ladder further.
Bad idea then. :)

Not if people have modules or drones that can shoot them out of the air?
A Large anti-missile turret or 1-2 heavy drones should be able to knock out 1 cruise missile before it gets to you.
NOTE: Have to figure out a balance for drones vs. missiles.

they should deffinately think of improvement to missles. lets face it, if your going to introduce T2 turrets into the game, there should be a balance with the missles. (or am i crazy) one of my ideas for a new missles is a type of "swarm" missles. have it seperate like a cluster bomb does and hit any available targets u may have, range restricted of course. if just one target, then the swarm hits the one. or maybe something like a missles with a smart bomb war head, have an area affect? might be an answer to those pesky intys that "just" out run missles sometimes
this is my first time tossing in my 2 cents on forums, so go easy on me

Edited by: Noriath on 10/10/2004 06:13:59 I don't see how this is fair in the least, missiles are already some of the best weapons in the game (if not the best), why should launchers also be able to replace loads of other modules?
I don't think this is a good idea at all, launchers are already very effective as they are, there are some changes underway that will make missiles much faster so in PvP frigates can't outrun them as far as I know.
Being able to web and drain enemies costs you slots, grid, CPU - how would it be fair in the least if a ship that has lots of launchers could replace all of that with a bit of money and cargospace...
