Let me start off by saying that this is a great game with a relatively supportive community of very knowledgeable folk, who, for the most part, have a great deal of constructive criticism/information to offer.
That said, and a word to us who are new to the game: never attempt to loot salvage, if that is your thing, unless you are absolutley sure the coast is clear.
To the person who was on the victim's end of this incident, my Corp.'s apologies (I realized rather late that you had just begun your game journey a day prior).
However, it is not adviseable to loot items with 3-4 vessels, with massively destructive capabilities (mine was, a Thrasher, was the "milder" of the three), right next to you as you turn red from looting the Corp.'s wrecks (from a Level 3 Mission the second of 3-4 pockets we had to clear), and in High Sec space at that.
This individual went so far as to "Web" one of our vessels, which was funny at first until he/she attempted to boldly ride of with our items.
I think this is a lesson for all of us who are new: never disrepsect a Corp. unless you love being target locked and destroyed (and keep in mind that a disreputable Corp. would have podded us for further effect).
I felt bad after I saw the Player's ststs., but as it was a mere Reaper, I suppose it was a valuable lesson learned inexpensively.

Actually, if you know what you're doing, it's perfectly safe to loot other people's missions. I frequently loot level 4 missions with the mission runner right next to me. It's all in the technique. The poor guy just has a lot to learn.
And not even a disreputable corp would pod someone normally. As you mentioned, you were in High security space. Even if the person stole from you, podding is still illegal, and you would have been swiftly concorded.

Understood on the podding issue, even though it's a factor of the game that my Corp. sincerely frounds upon (apeaking just for us of course). You're also right that a cleverer looter may have had better success, but, then again, we have cloaked vessels there just in case.
I think cloaking in range is between 2500m-2000m, with a 4-5 seconds target lock time range. We practice tactics to target lock via directional scanner and overviews to reduce the target lock/weapons firing time. Now, of course you could target damper to thwart targeting long enough, and after burner/microwarp out, but we are testing webbing.
Advanced looting is a tempting adversary upon which to practice...Thanks for the imput.

Sounds like your corp runs a safe operation compared to most of the stuff we see here at Suddenly Ninjas. But keep in mind, that may come back around and bite you. If an experienced ninja gets shot at by a mission runner, they come back in a gank ship to kill them. So make sure you have enough firepower there to take them on if they come back
And if you want to defend yourself against a more experienced looter you really do need to have a tackler with a web ready, otherwise it'll be pretty hard to take one down. My ship is on the slower end of the spectrum when it comes to people who do this, and I go about 1.3k m/s. That's enough to speed tank a mission, and keep me alive long enough to finish up what I'm doing and leave if a runner attacks.

Understood, and thanks for the advice, though we're well prepared to handle most threats which come our way. I didn't get any pleasure out of shooting the new cat, and we weren't looking for a looter while running a mission in High Sec. (though being aware of the possibility), but, your imput is well valued.
Thanks for offering something constructive.

Yeah, are you, or did you miss the words "relatively" and "for the most part?"
Otherwise, write complete sentences so that I might know to what you're referring...

BTW, what part of the words "NEWB LOOTING LESSON" in the story or subject did folks miss prior to posting?
If you wanted to learn, I'm sure there are a ton of guides online about looting/salvaging. If you'd like I could teach you. I'll come to you. So...where are you again?
