I agree with hellek (OMG HE AGREES WITH HELLEK!)
copm[aring the 1400mm to megapulse (because gankageddon's use megapulse) is rather stupid
try 800mm, the secret with the 800mm is to crank the range so that tracking is no longer an issue
Remember increasing range makes tracking less of an issue.
With 6x dmg mods on the thing they should die very fast. (I remember quite clearly some testing herugrim did with his gankapest).
I also find that minmatar players are not exploiting the one thing their capless guns are giving them. Cap. I mean whats the point of having capless guns if you aren't going to use the cap in any significant way?

I just ran some very fast numbers throuhg my calculator, and worked out that a tempest with 800mm repeating and max skills comes within about 10% of a megathron with neutron blasters and max skills.
Given the grid/cpu/cap differences I would say this favours the tempest, except for the fact that the megathron has more tracking.
Howere the 800mm repeating has far superior range then the neutron blaster.
As I said in my last post the most advantageous thing to do with 800mm repeating (even though it is very difficult) is to crank the range as far as yuou can get it.

And Darth Solo now sees the light! *the heaven's sings!*
Yes 800mm repeating is probably the best choice of gun for a tempest. THe ranges do extend further then 10km as siddy points out.
and it makes sense as well, autocannons are the minmatar choice of weapons given fast speed and the need for high tracking.
