I too often wonder who this Goonswarm is. Didn't they bring down that BoB alliance? That all happened before I started playing.

they are the biggest alliance in game, they draft people from Something Awful forums and pride themselves on having this exclusive group with us-vs-them mentality as far as the rest of EVE populace goes, naturally they get same treatment in return

They proved that even players starting from nothing can be the biggest Alliance. I remember a few years back when I first played and BOB were the biggest everyone said the game was finished as they had won the game.
But success breads arrogance and pride. And there is always pride before the fall.

Actually the game for delve was finished as noone could beat bob or run them out. It then turned into an unfun defence of territory that dragged on for ages that ulimately became so unfun that one of the key members went emo and turned off all the sov. Goonswarm being about the only alliance that was actively fighting bob then had the upper hand to swarm in so to speak as the defenders decided to just go back to empire and let others fight over some pixels. The rest is history so now we will see if the goonies can get past the eventual point of defending delve just for the sake of defending it and still finding it fun for the masses. However in the goons case the swarm mentality might just be a deciding factor. Time will tell.

When I heard BOB died to the Goons, I ticked off one of the signs of the coming Apocalypse.
