Yeah, you're close. I'm at 11th and Olive Ave, 2 blocks East of PCH and 5 blocks North of Main St.
Was just thinking that Orange County would be a good area for a SoCal Eve Meet. It is more or less centrally located for most of San Diego, San Bernadino, Riverside and Los Angeles County's.

Heya!
So we had our little get together in Sac yesterday. 9 people showed up total. Had a great time. We agreed we'd shoot for a monthly meetup in Sac at the Roundtable on Howe and I'm going to try and throw in another thing or two every now and then.

There was some talk a while back about where to have a SoCal EveMeet. Figured Orange County is more or less centrally located for San Diego, LA, Riverside and San Bernadino Counties.
If you wanna host a SoCal EveMeet that would be great, just send me the details and I'll list it.

Got my I.D. badge out, the Hummer is fueled up and I will be heading off to the meeting today in a bit.
Lots to talk about today. Burn Jita, Hulkageddon V, Combat drone exploits, T3's which can pop a freighter in a 0.5 before Concord can get them etc.
Count me in to buy the first Pitcher of Blue Moon and a Large Combo Pizza for those who get there early.
Last month was a good time. I ws expecting some "Hey buddy buddy.. let me join your Corp... I will make a great Director for you!", stuff, but that never happened. Although talk was mostly open, you can tell EvE players still keep their cards close to their chest in the real world too.
Eve is everywhere and your best friend may be the Corporate Spy you have always feared. I have seen it happen.
Fly safe, and grab a frozen mug with me at 4PM today...

Presently working with the owner of a specialty beer restaurant to host a larger (up to 50) Eve Player gathering in a few months. The owner said she will import some Einstok Icelandic Beer and if we want, she will get some +ûlvisholt Lava and Stout (which is about $14.95 for 16.9oz).

There are about 4-5 people coming tonight for a Micro-Meetup in San Gabriel, California tonight from about 5pm to 8pm.

These Micro-Meetups are simply a few So-Cal players that get together to talk EVE (and a few other topics like Burning Man, but EVE foremost). We have been meeting informally for over a year but until now we have not advertised it. This restaurant is willing to host a larger event (maximum 50 people) in a few months and the owners will import some Icelandic Beer just for us. The owner said she can also stay open later with additional staff if our larger event takes off.
So if you want to meet "EVE is Real People", come by and get a good sandwich and some beer. We usually sit in the back (right side) of the restaurant by the soda machine. You can ask the staff, they know of us and of Eve-Online.
If you can't make this one... I plan on doing it again next month too, and also each 3rd Wednesday of the Month (when I'm not traveling for work).

Fernando, I don't think there's a specific criteria that has to be followed. If you want to organize a 'Meet' where WiFi is available with food and drink, I'm sure that will be fine but it's not mandatory.

When you do set up a regular Eve Meet, please send me the info in an Eve Mail message and don't forget to post the details in this thread as well as in California Capsuleers too. You can also post a San Diego Eve Meet thread listing the details.

This might work since there are a number of players in the Bay Area. I think the best would be somewhere near a Cal Train or BART station. TBH thats dependent on my hot drop/school/laziness schedule. I'd lean towards bi-monthly unless someone in SF wants to take over posting them :) Which I'm all for and can give the rights on the meetup group to do.

Thanks for posting. Yeah, San Gabriel isn't very far away from LA but traffic in the late afternoon during a weekday can turn a 20 minute drive into a 2 hour drive. Probably get more people attending a weekend meet up.
Anyway, might be a good idea to send a friendly Eve Mail message to all those who are located in and around the LA area reminding them about the San Gabriel meet up location.

Another thing is that its really easy to just schedule one and see who shows up. Round Table doesn't charge for booking their party room and has cheap pitchers of decent beer. Very rare absolutely nobody shows and I've been doing it for awhile in a much smaller city.

Welcome to the thread. I was wondering why you posted here and after checking this sub-forum I see there isn't a Nevada Eve Players thread at all. Might be a good idea for you to start one. Traveling from Reno to Sacramento is at least a 2 hour drive. Then you've got the drive back. Not sure if it's wise to do that, especially after eating and drinking.
Having said that, I'd like to say it's an honor to hear you're interested in attending the NorCal Eve Meet. All California Eve Meet's are neutral gatherings and everyone is welcomed to attend.

However, California Eve Players (USA) is a thread title that gets a lot of attention from players looking for their home state in this sub forum, as you can tell by the amount of people who have already done a 'Sign In' to this thread..

Yeah, right now I'm working in Barstow, California on a big job doing 6 - 10's. Don't know how long the job will last but as soon as I get back to Surf City, definitely can look into doing a semi Eve Meet.

Currently there's no Eve Meet set up for the NorCal area but that can be fixed rather easily. Just have to start one. Doesn't take much to do it. Set up a time and date to meet at your favorite location, post it in California Capsuleers Meet Up Message Board and send me the details via Eve Mail in-game so I can list it in this thread.

Glad you made it there. It's better to be late then to not show up. It was an excellent Eve Meet with a great turn out, I counted 30 people there, not to mention the restaurant is a great place as well.
Since you jump between Irvine and Los Angeles the San Gabriel Eve Meet is definitely closer to home. It's held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month @ 5pm, which I plan on attending tonight. (Check the list in original post for location details)

Thanks for posting. I fully understand how tough it is to attend an Eve Meet held on a work day in the middle of the work week, especially when it requires travel in rush hour traffic.
I'd like to point out the Meet Up is at least a few hours long, usually held longer and showing up late is not a problem. In fact, better late than never, right?
Anyway, having an Eve VIP Guest appearence is something new. I'm not even sure if this will happen on a regular basis. When I receive confirmation of a 'Special Event' I will definitely forward that info to all California Eve Players. Hopefully in the future you'll be able to attend one of those 'Special Events'.
Until then, fly smart and stay safe.

For now, I have been working the night shift. So my evening are usually taken up on the weekdays. But when that changes (hopefully soon), that will change my status. Hey all, wanted to thank you all for attending the recent San Diego Eve Meetup! Its been a lot of work getting these meets off the ground and getting players together. More like herding cats really, but after doing them down here in San Diego for over a year we are really having a good time and meeting some great people. It was good having some Goons attend--and you guys aren't nearly the dickheads that you try to convince everyone that you are! (you guys really need to try harder!). Next SD meetup is coming up on May 20th same place (Kaminskis) and same time 6pm..... Let me know if you are joining us! |

I agree, last month the SD Eve Meet was indeed a good one, especially with the appearance of Eve VIP Guest : The Mittani - Goonswarm CEO.
Speaking of Eve VIP Guest, this month ISD Buldath - Member Of ISD STAR, will be attending the Los Angeles area Eve Meet on Wednesday, 5-21-2014 at 5pm. Hopefully you can attend and help welcome him California Capsuleer style.
Anyway, I sincerely hope in the future there will be plenty more Special Events and Eve VIP Guest appearances happening.

Probably a good idea to send a personal Eve Mail message to all the SoCal players listed in this thread.
Anyway, thanks for the reminder. I've never been to Medieval Times myself and really wanted to go to this Meet. Unfortunately yesterday I just started a new job working 7-12's.

Yeah, I was talking about everyone who's posted in this thread. They all list their location with the 'Sign In' which is basically a mailing list.
Sorry I can't be more helpful. I'm currently working a job that's 7-12's. By the time I get home from work, get cleaned up and eat dinner I barely have time to browse the forums and answer mail messages before I go to sleep.
Anyway, if I wasn't on this job I'd definitely be there. I hope you have a good time and more importantly, have some players show up.

Somewhat of a consideration, true.
However, plenty of game companies have booths there. Last year the big one was Assassin's Creed, but Xbox had a large space outside of the convention center. Plus QMX is there every year and they'll be making a large ship model (Megathron?) which I'm hoping they'll have there this year. Hmm, I think I'l email them and ask. |

As for not knowing about the California Eve Meets, definitely need to browse other sub-forums besides General Discussion.
Anyway, the Pasadena / LA area Eve Meet at Lucky Baldwins happens on the 4th Thursday of each month, not every Thursday.
When I went there last month, it was very tough to see who was there for the Eve Meet so don't be afraid to walk around and ask people if they are there for Eve. Eventually you'll find the group.
I think all of the Eve Meet Event Host's should make a table top place holder 'EvE' sign or at the very least inform the establishment where the group will be sitting.

In my opinion having 3 people attending the very first initial group meeting is very good. With a little bit of time and patience, the attendance amount can easily be increased just by sending out monthly reminder messages to those who live in the general area.
I'm reminded of a catch phrase from the movie 'Field Of Dreams' starring Kevin Costner :

Don't judge or give up on going to Eve Meet's because of that experience. I've had good times and met a lot of cool people at various Eve Meet's I've attended.
Anyway, I sent a message to the Event Host (Jet Burns) and haven't received a reply yet. I hope everything is all right with him.

Well, I remember it quite differently.
It was after midnight, the Eve Meet had already been concluded long before that, last call had come and gone, the tab was already paid and over 1/2 of the people attending had left. Not to mention I still had a long drive back to Orange County from San Diego..
As for your statement about staying out super late anyway, I could mention the CCP Eve Meet in Hollywood or the Eve Meet in San Gabriel or the impromptu Eve Meet with Eros in Long Beach but hey, I understand those happened before you joined Goonswarm.
Anyway, not gonna get into a pissing contest about this nor am I gonna be the fall guy. This thread is for listing Eve Meets and for use as a mailing list. If you want to continue this discussion we can do it via Eve Mail.

By the way, after you left the event, me & Ozay Yellow (Event Host for San Francisco Eve Meet) were outside talking when the top man himself (who remembered me from the night before) walked up behind me, tapped me on the shoulder and said hello.
Naturally I introduced Ozay and both of us (well, mainly me) had a good 10 to 15 minute convo with him. And yes I'm talking about CCP Games CEO Hilmar Petursson.

So you're from the Bay area and just moved to SLO which I guess means San Luis Obispo, right ?
Anyway, according to the map San Luis Obispo is about 1/2 way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I'm sure there's other Eve Players that have posted in this thread who live within the general area. Maybe send them an Eve Mail and see if they would consider attending an Eve Meet if one was started in the area. If so, I can easily promote you to Event Host if you join California Capsuleers. Definitely gratz on the move, nothing beats living in an Ocean / Beach city.

Murrieta / Menifee area. Just resubbed after about a year trying to get my job and family situation in gear. Completely lost on all the changes, lol.
Can't imagine ever driving all the way to Poway on a Tuesday night so nix on that. Besides, I'm more of a semi-closeted eve player. Wouldn't be caught dead at Comic-con... But it would be nice to have some kind of in game contacts as all mine are big bad 0.0 meanies that don't talk to me anymore

The San Diego Area Eve Meet is held in a very nice venue with good drinks and great food. The Eve Meet itself has quite a few members who show up regularly and most of them usually stay late so arriving late is no problem. I know you'd enjoy yourself very much and I think it's definitely worth the time to check it out.

I'm not doubting its a great place with great people attending. I'm not sure how much you know about SoCal though; Poway is about an hour south of me, easily. With traffic, on a tuesday, when I could be home with my wife and my daughter and preparing for work the next day... yeah.
EDIT: According to Goggle maps the exact address of the meet up is 2 1/2 hours EEEK!
LOL, I work in SD county but get out early and my wife would beat me unmercifully if I took off on a tuesday to "Hang out with a buncha nerds" ...even though she married one
But I added the California Capsuleers chat room yesterday. Saw a few people on but no conversation (it was a wednesday night, no big deal). I'll be around this weekend in game for sure. Hope to catch some of you. Jiggawhut Huren is my alt btw.

I've lived here in SoCal all my life so I would say I know the area very well and how bad Freeway traffic can get here. I live in Orange County and have gone to the Poway Eve Meet a couple of times. Traffic going south at that time is actually pretty good and afterwards there's definitely no traffic.
According to Map Quest the drive time from Murrieta to Poway is less than an hour, straight down the 15 Freeway. You might even consider having your wife attend the Eve Meet with you. As I said before, it's a great venue with excellent food and good drinks. Also the last time I went which was about a month ago there was a couple of females there so it's not exclusively all male.
However, I can understand your situation and I definitely don't want to be the cause of domestic problems.
As for the California Capsuleers chat channel, feel free to start a convo in it. Attendance there during the week is random but it should be much better on the weekend.
Anyway, thanks for the reply and welcome back to Eve. May you have a long and rewarding career.

Thanks for the 'Sign In' and welcome to the thread.
Hosting an Eve Meet is easy, just pick your favorite Pizza or Sandwich shop, day and time to meet and contact me via Eve Mail with the info and I'll post it in this thread. Also if you join the California Capsuleers message board I'll grant you status as Event Host so you can also post a notice on the message board.
Preferable it'll be a recurring once a month Eve Meet since it takes time to build up player attendance. This thread can be used as a mailing list, basically just send out notice via Eve Mail to those who live in the area about 1 week before the actual Eve Meet. One Eve Mail message can be sent to 20 names at a time.
Anyway, think about it and contact me if you decide to do it. Our total is now 282.

Yeah, all very true. I use to say "I was born ready", now I just say 'My Mind is willing but the Flesh is weak'.
I'm sure there will be people from California attending Eve Vegas. Don't know if there will be a small group representing our great state. I've never been to Eve Vegas but I'm sure it's a lot of fun.

Okay it's official tickets purchased, work rescheduled, I am attending EVE Vegas 2016.
I would like to know if other players from So Cal are planning to attend and drive, ride, or fly in to Las Vegas.
I plan on driving and because I don't drink I am a good designated driver for pub crawl nights.
