Take it from me in numbers the 6800 wins but i found that the 6800 cheats on picture qualty and the drivers then selfs is very unstable so i scraped that card and went for x800 xt and i got to say its a move i fort would suck but it turns out theres not much a difference if any. Get an 6800 if u got the capacity to handel the heat (boy and its a lot of heat) and the pcu which to be safe u would need a 650W...... but to answer ur question this game has no trouble with the saphire x800 xt agp

lol ati's drivers have always been **** and always will be ****...this is where nvidia pwns ati big time and always have their drivers have been much more stable
ati have cheated aswell in their drivers
but right now the 6800 owns the x800 line
they both require a 480+ power supply to run

Ive got an X800XT, it rocks
I did have a play with a 6800 Ultra and preferred the ATI card

pci express effectively doubles the apg8 cards abilitys.
but it cant be run with athlon 64 atm
so ur best option is a pci-e with intel p4 at 3.6 with 2mb cach.
fit pc4200 ddr2 memory and u will get far better results than a 64 bit alone.
and by time 64 is compatible with pci-e intel will have a 54 out and u will be able to run that on ur mainboard.

Just to elaborate on this point:
Only the X800 Pros have a 12 pipeline structure - the X800 XTs (like the original poster specified) have a 16 pipeline structure, just like the 6800s.
