I'm building a new systen on tueday and the grafics card I am probably going to use is: Gigabyte Radeon X800XT 256MB PCI-E - Anyone have that card? or different card with same Radeon chip? I'm upgrading from a 2 year old ge force 4 128mb card and hoping to see a good difference.. -----------------

I'm looking those up now... Do they come with a PCI Express form factor? My new board doesn't have AGP just PCI express w/ the 925x intel chipset. -----------------

I like my old GE Foce 4600 ti 128mb... But my heatsink went on an old P4 board and couldnt get a new one, so I'm going to build a new top/near-top of the range system. I got it all down execpt the best graphix card... It has to be PCI Express though, and it's new don't think many cards support it yet. -----------------

The only 6800 with PCI-e is the 6800 GT.

I've done my research as I'm buying a 6800GT myself. They do come in pci-e, just as Kozak said, but only the 6800GT, which is the one you want anyway. The 6800 vanilla has 12 pipelines and the 6800GT has 16(way better results), and easily be overclocked do 6800 Ultra speeds.

I got Athlon 64 3500+, 1gb with Radeon X800 Pro 256 and it all works fine!
Only thing is I still only get 30 fps in space with EVE. I get 60 fps with Doom III

well traditionally Nvidia has had the best opengl performace (they 'bought' all of Silicon Graphics's dev team years back as part of a patent infringement settlement), and ATI has had the better directx performace.
Since eve is (unfortunately) directx, ATI would be my pick.
even the paranoid has real enemies...

I had the same choice to make and went for the 6800 (itĘs a monster), the only issues I have with EVE atm are semi transparent Minmatar stations.
I switched from ATI as I never had so many probs with games as I did with them and the lousy drivers.
