There was spod in beta, I remember very clearly. Of course... in beta two combat frigates would clear a 0.0 of pirates so spodumain was pretty low on the list when it came to mining. --------------- I used to be in the FA. I like cookies. Eve Radio is teh pwn. |

It used to be in the game untill the ore redistrobution now I have seen every other kind of ore other than Spod.. they really should bring it back into 0.2 sectors or something similar to bring Mega prices back into line with NPC prices. "Death Before Dishonor" |

I've never thought about it, but now when you mention it, it is odd. I haven't seen any spod for a while now.

Spodumain was in violation of the Law of Alphabetical Order of Ore Value. Hence, it could not exist in the Eve universe, and it all went *poof*.

Spodumain was in the game, in 0.2 and up systems, during beta and after release, up until the ore-redistribution a couple of weeks ago.
after that, spod just disappeared.
I've seen all the others personally, except for ark since the redistribute, but I havent been real deep into 0.0 yet, no more than 10-15 jumps.

Well I remember when CCP plucked out all the Ark, Bistot and such and stuck everything that yeilded Zydrine and Megacyte in non-factioned space, but your right I have yet to see spodumain in those belts as well. I do wish that CCP would stick all the ores that contain no Megactye back into faction space though, each time they do something like what they did it only makes the game that much more geared towards corporate mining practices and basically kills the freelance miner. I mean come on, Freelancers are supposed to amass a thier fortunes mining Veldspar and Plagioclase??? Please.... CCP make at least Zydrine accessable.

I have also noticed after close monitoring of six systems that have belts containing bistot that the ore has not respawned since the patch that moved it from empire space. Has it been switched to manual spawns by CCP and only happening for the two bistot systems that have 100 players camping them? :) I am curious though as moving the corp mining ops 30-40 jmups to find more bistot is one thing, but moving them 100 to the only system that spanws bistot is just insane. Back to killing pirates all day. :) Happy m0o hunting. blah. "The most intelligent ideas take form while you are not there" by; Blah |

I agree...
Not only should spod exist, but spod should be placed into some parts of empire space.
Yes, spod does yield megacyte. BUT its total cash value per cubic meter is 1/3 that of arkanor and around 1/2 that of bistot. (See http://militech.nord.is/orecalc/, if you doubt my calculations the source is at http://militech.nord.is/orecalc.pl)
The redistribution was targeted at megacorps that were stripmining bistot and arkanor. Well, post-redistribution, ONLY the megacorps can stripmine bist and ark, and megacyte prices have shot through the roof, so the corporations that the redistribution was supposed to hurt have only benefited and gained an additional advantage from it.
Putting spod back into play and more accessible would not allow for massive cashwhoring due to its comparatively low value per cubic meter of spodumain. It would also bring the pricing of megacyte back in line, reducing the massive advantage CCP has given to the megacorps.
BTW, there seemed to be a massive roid respawn this past weekend (Saturday morning).

It's a real pain to build ships when you can't locate any megacyte. Not to be a complainer, but it's a pain to travel 30 jumps just to find megacyte for under 7K isk. ---------------------------------------

Mordessa,
Jaspet can be foudn in some 0.4/0.3 systems rarely, with long respawn times.
Hedbergite, and hemorphite can be found in 0.2/0.1 factioned space, but usually doesn tlast long once it is noticed.
for the rest of the highers, i have yet to seem them anywhere but 0.0 space :/

As for the Bistot, i can inform you that there is plenty to be found - the only problem is that it is all in systems where no stations are present...
That would be far far far out in 0.0 space...
