Imo the deign of the NH is nice (not the game mechanic design, that sucks big time).
To my eye the design of each race's ships makes perfect sense to me.
one one hand you have the caldari: A nation where the elitist rules and the rest are downtrodden, overworked, underpaid and not thanked for it (until the Heth Revolution). For this reason, visually, Caldari ships are never going to be pleasing to the eye because they're the result of apathetic designers and uncaring constructors. The Shipyards and the corporations probably don't care what a ship looks like, as long as it helps toward the task of raking in money. Resources are also tightly controlled. Wasting resources is a waste of money, after all. Why put a 'go faster' stripe on that ship when it's going to cost extra money to pay someone to paint it on and pay for the paint to do it? Or a go faster fin? Etc. Caldari ships are the bare minimum that a ship needs to be to do its job. Creative thinking is discouraged by the elitists.
One the other hand you have the Gallente. A booming federation where the people are, generally, happy and whose resources are not so tightly controlled. People prosper in the Gallente Federation and so they're happier. Design and creative thinking are encouraged and so, generally, their ships reflect this. Especially the Megathron and the Gallente Titan.
Then you have the Amarr. Whose shipbuilding efforts are probably tokens to their service to God from their point of view. For this reason the designers will always come up with exorbitant decoration and form for their ships because their work is viewed as a testament to their service to God. Resources are not an object when you own a large empire and you have many slaves (or a little less than many these days) to acquire them for you.
Then you have the Minmitar. While they're fierce in their efforts to maintain a fleet, resources are also harder to acquire because they, possibly, lack the technology acquire said resources in the same way that the other three races do. To t his end their ships always look a little thrown together, but also reflect their determination to be different. A ship is built to do the best job it possibly can, but also using as little resources as possible.
Thus endeth ye thread.

Support the "back to black" Nighthawk campaign.
I've named mine "Mangas Coloradas" - Red Sleeves. Once a band of feared Apache Native Americans, the red details on the NH brought that to mind.

thanks, vote for me for president :)..
To all that are goign abotu about the design, no one is complaining about the design of nighthawk, its a pretty ship. We re mainly talking about bringing the odl skin of pure black back, and it had onl a dozen of lights on it.
Not it has a 1000 lights with grey and red strips. I Am sorry, but the concept of beauty is not universal, nor is there any specific qualification in the world that says, there. you know what beuty. Most philosophers agree not to agree on that area, as i may find girls beautiful, and you liek guys.
and the examples are endless. I find black nighthawk beautifull, and it was the original design. not if u like the gray one, good4u. but iam trying to find out if most people find the previous design agreeable, preferably people that fly the ship.

What is a nighthawk nighthawk? Is it like a doublehawk?

And here I thought naming mine "Redsleeves" was original...

I love my high-detailed, diversified nighthawk over anything that I have seen pre-trinity. I just love the different colors, my racing-stripes and how it still is looking subtle dark, but not just plain black. I think it adds much to more authentic designs of ships, and, frankly, I find the old design hideous.
Seriously, you know it's not going to change, because there is so much stuff that needs to get changed in the first place before such things can happen - especially since its a question of personal taste, nothing that everyone agrees on.
Lets focus on the field where the NH actually sucks for everyone - PvP. Gimme PG, Damage, more Tank, or Speed or something. But don't leave it as a ship that can't do anything seriously good, or worth its price. It can't meleegank like a HAM-Drake, it can't Snipe like a Cerb (and therewhile keep distance), it can't properly carry a command module. Jeez, give it some love - and don't u touch its colour, I dare you.

Originally by: Wrayeth Edited by: Wrayeth on 06/08/2009 04:15:38 TBH, much as I want a jet-black nighthawk again, I'd rather have them fix the slot layout and grid so that it outperforms the drake.
Nighthawk needs: +1 mid -1 low +15% grid (at least - to make up for the RCU you aren't fitting in that low; I'd prefer a 30% grid boost, but that might be greedy)
If this happens, I'd actually fly my nighthawks more, since I'd be able to tackle without ruining my surivability. EDIT: Also, highslot target painters, please.
pls pls pls, more mid slots for caldari

I don't mind the Nighthawk's look too much, although it could be a bit blacker. What I really care about though is the Navy/Imperial Apocalypse. It used to have this sort of greyish metal look, which was really, really awesome. These days you can barely tell it apart from a normal Apocalypse. It makes me very sad.

I actually like how the NH looks now. And yes, I fly one regularly. Confusingly, I've chosen to name it Widow.
But here's a deal for you:
Get the Helios changed back first and I'll advocate the NH looking like a goddamn clown car for all I care.

Frankly I'd much rather have the NH get a Drake hull and make that one black with red accents, since the NH is a T2 Drake in every way and has very little in common with the Ferox hull it shares.
