Care bears, those loveable creatures that everyone loves to hate. IÆm one of the original Care bear haters, one who just wanted to watch something funny on Saturday mornings to cure my epic hangovers and got frustrated by the lousy Saturday cartoon quality on television close to 25 years ago. Now all the people tell me that I actually am a Care bear! How did it ever get to that? LetÆs check the Care bears and their foes a little closer to see what itÆs all about.
Care bears were creatures who had a cuddly time in their own far away sector and upheld law and order in high sec where they controlled the security and standings of the common traders, miners and L1-L4 mission runners. They never did any preemptive strikes but always waited until the evildoers made their first move. Unless, of course, the faction standings of the visitors were too low which indicated that they were either pirates or simply part of an evil corporation. When someone like this visited the high sec areas the Care bears reacted and ganked them with the efficiency of the legendary Thunderbirds turned into jumpgate pirates.
The main foe of the Care bears was the Coldheart corporation and their allies, who lived in 0.0 sec areas and who ruled their own regions with an iron fist. These capitalists and multinational traders worked hard to gain prosperity and political power and their influence could be felt as far away as the high sec areas where the Care bears were upholding the peace. The main objective of the Coldheart corporation was to gain prosperity, gain area of influence and to make their own controlled region into a heaven for the Coldhearts and this often led to conflicts with the Care bear faction.
Contact between the Coldheart Alliance and the Carebear faction was inevitable since the multinational corporations in the 0.0 alliance tried to get new allies and fresh members to their corporations, and these were usually young residents in n00b areas where the Care bears were the main military power.
So, what happened when the Coldhearts and the Care bears crossed their paths? The Care bears could usually sense it, and when they did they checked the overall security report on their ôCareÆoÆmeterö. After this the cuddly creatures attacked the poor low sec raiders who just wanted to get good income and new recruits and the Bears were always, yes always, victorious with their ultimate beam weapon: The Care bear stare. They never lost a single member and very few targets got away!
So, Care bears are upholders of peace, standings investigators, the militia of all high sec areas, jumpgate guardians, close to immortal and uses an ultimate weapon that no one can resist. Does this sound like a peaceful mission runner who doesnÆt like PvP like me? NO! Care bears in EVE are the Concord, plain and simple!

Sigh, I guess you really have to see the TV-series about the care bears to understand that this topic was meant as a sarcastic evaluation of the naming procedure of the players that dislikes fighting.
Yup, I still have the mental scars from watching care bears in severe hangovers. Some wounds never heal .

Oh, you're that young? I always forget that most people on these forums are under 20. The TV-series was made 1985, was shown where I live in 1986 which was a good beer drinking and womenizing year for me! Oh the memories .

You forgot about "At any cost". Sure, everyone avoids dieing, except suiciders, but most people realize it's gonna happen eventually, or that their sacrifice will benefit their side in an engagement. It's the ones like Ginger Magician I'm talking about, who think it's not fair if their targets are allowed to defend themselves, or the others that want PvP in high sec disabled.

People hate die because our societies learns us to win, and consider losers as **** who only deserve an humiliation.
So it is not motivating to try to PVP. If you lose, you will receive a global humiliation as the Killmail will be posted and syndicated in nearly all Killboards of Earth. If you want to try curious fits etc... Everything will be reported.
Of course, some players will say that they don't care. It is not easy for everyone. And if you don't care, others will take care of your stats... This can close some Corp gates, etc...
In few words, you can't play as you want.
So it is better to avoid dying at any cost, as it is not a problem of ISK only.
So it is better to stay in Empire for a majority of players. _______ Local is fine, period.

You know.. there's no such thing as a 'true carebear', anymore than there is a 'true PVP'er'. It's pratically IMPOSSIBLE to participate in this game without some fighting and then EVERYTHING ELSE that ISN'T PVP: which includes Mission Running, mining, trading, research/production, and etc. Anybody who CLAIMS to be a 'true/100% PVP'er' is lying through their teeth. You can't survive long in this game WITHOUT doing the non-PVP stuff.. I don't care how skilled you are.
So now that I've proved there's no "true PVPer's", what about "true CareBears"? Are there ACTUALLY some people in the EVE universe who don't enjoy risking thier shiny toys and getting blown up? Probably.. but it doesn't matter. Not with griefers/gankers, pirates, wardec corps and, of course. the 'occasional' 0.0 gatecamps. Nost of the aforementioned involve the use of large gangs to seperate and attack 1 target. Miners are almost always selected first, becuase it's more macho and manly to attack ships that can't fire back. But my point remains.. you can't even be a "true carebear" even if you wanted to, because of all the aforementioned making almost impossible to go through the game with-out being attacked at some time. Therefore, they eventually train skills and get les gankable ships and fits. (Or emoragequit..)
I think we need to drop these so-called 'distinctions' as they're usually lies and serve no real purpose except to falsely antagonize players.
