Okay so obviously most Amarr ships have a 10% reduction to laser capacitor need, for every level of say... Battlecruiser.
I've looked at other Battlecruisers and am curious why Amarr ships are burdened with this bonus when other ships get two beneficial bonuses like:
"5% shield resistance and 5% bonus kinetic damage of heavy missiles and heavy assault missiles" "10% increase to drone hitpoints and damage dealt by drones, and 7.5% increase to armor repair amount per level" "5% bonus to Medium Projectile Turret rate of fire and 7.5% bonus to shield boosting per level"
Why do energy weapons need such high Capacitor use? Could you not just lower the usage and add a bonus to Amarr ships? I don't know the possibilities of fittings if energy weapons did get their usage lowered but I am really wondering why this is the case. Thanks in advance for any meaningful replies.

Lasers are supposed to be more powerful before ship bonuses, so they have higher capacitor usage. The 10% capacitor usage per level on Amarr ships means that they can use lasers (which are supposed to have a built in damage bonus) along with other modules without running out of cap within only minute or two.
Given the current state of lasers, its much more useful than you might think. ________________________________________________ For changes to Minmatar Battleships click here (Now with added summary!) |

Because lasers have a built in damage bonus countered by their high cap use. If they lowered the cap they would also lower the damage so it would work out pretty much the same. Honestly lasers need their cap usage increased further since the current amount isn't enough to be any real hindrance. As a laser abuser I have to admit they're a wee bit too good.

Edited by: Reignier Wraith on 06/08/2009 05:56:27 Ah I see, so an Energy weapon will do more damage to its equivilent in the other Turret families, assuming they have the same ammo types (Antimatter/Multifreq/etc.) ?
Sorry this is Koada, forgot to change character.

They do about the same as hybrids without bonuses, but through bonuses hybrids will do more damage as they should as they are a much closer range weapon.

not to mention hybrids have superior tracking so they can shoot close targets far better than lasers do

Well still amarr rules :)) Lasers r really cool. I have 2 accounts in one i use missile/hybrid and on the other i just use lasers My experience Lasers rate of fire awesome. No need to wait 10 seconds for reload Huge cargo space
Hybrids are good for close range (blasters) Wasting lots of time for reloading You need an ammo bay in your cargo hold
If you are looking for bonuses to be used in 0.0 fleet wars and etc u ll love amarr technology
If you are going for mission running then hmmmm you are after wrong weapon type and go for missiles! No range or damage type problems ;)
And if they bring extra bonuses for amarr ship just like the others it would be really unfair since amarr has not been nerfed since the others all been nerfed. Correct me if i m wrong

I really think they should fix Caldari. Every person is forced to go straight for the Drake, fit it the same way, abuse it as a solo pwnmobile for missions/wormholes and be golden. Amarr have to use BS to do that -- definitely unfair

The bonus is really welcome on the Armageddon and Apocalypse. The more so in 0.0 PvP where fitting a microwarpdrive is a must. The Abaddon lacks this bonus and is very easy to cap out (and cap booster charges take a lot of space).

Abbs is a cap hog no doubt about that. The bonus is useful since laser suck the cap of out of you like 5 dolla hoe.
Tech 2 crystals such as scorch and conflag wear out after prolonged useage therefore you need to have extra's in the cargo hold lest you run out of in the middle of a fight same goes for faction crystals.

Strange, I went the Gallente path when I was mission running(Tristan, Vexor, Myrmidon, Dominix) didn't try a drake until I had been in a domi for over a month.
Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

I cannot help but agree. I don't like being a sheep and taking the easy route. Plus Amarr ships just appealed to me more, aesthetically. I've started some Drake hate quotes in my bio for this character to show my dislike .

I think the problem is that people, when they start playing see how much better missiles are in missions, so the train for a mission runner Drake then a Raven. They keep trainin for maybe too long until they realize that running L4 over and over is boring.
So... They fit a caracal, go to low sec to try "new experiences" and are eaten alive by a punisher and a rifter.
After that they complain how overpowered are rifter and lasers and start moaning for nerf Am I right?
