hornets do seem pretty good, they seem to do a lot better than acolytes against Angel sheilds for some reason. Maybe they don't, but they seem to.
I don't use any drone type to defend me, I just tank the damage in .5-.8
but regardless with 13 drones at your command I don't think it matters what kind you use to get the npcs in a .6 cause you shouldn't have any problem getting them.
I think i have 6 or 7 harvesters still, but they're only half mine so I never use them, I let the other half owner get them blown up so I can make fun of him.

I use light drones while Mininig....mostly Hob's and Hornets...in Amarr Space.....Hob's tend to last a bit longer...and but kill slower....Hornets die faster but hit a bit harder....
Mediums....well against Frigs in Amarr...they tend to get smoked....In Gal Space....they tend to just own everything Frig sized....
Pretty much can't go wrong with Heavies...just need the right types for the right Rats...

Well, I'm kind of reluctant to use heavy drones...my worry is that if something like five Despoilers show up (which has happened before, and often), they will wear down the Wasps that I paid 55K for; since I tend to mine for a VERY long time, it would be a drain to lose 55K even every so often. Therefore, I choose light drones - the info. about Hobgoblins is helpful, because I never knew they outlasted Hornets, so thanks for that.
Now, then...Anyone know the answer to my question about necessary velocity to outrun most low-level Guristas turrets...?

If you can command 13 heavy drones, you don't have to worry about 5x 7k rats, like...at all. They can rip a 7k rat to pieces in 1 round.
