Dont Care

Does any one know anything about ussing target disruptors on sentry gus to enable succesful violations in low sec? Have heard people talk of this, but disruptor II only modifies range by .85... not much of their 150km range. Now, on the other hand, tracking speed is reduced by x.5, so is it that one has to have a fast ship (mwd perhaps) and disrupt to be relatively safe? would appreciate any informed feedback, especially form those with actual experience of violations near gates/station. Cheers.

I'm not sure, you could be right. It's just i have definately been attacked close to stations in low sec (not 0.0) without sentries responding when I haven't fired a shot... may just be a mwd thing

As far as I know, the dudes behind the sentry guns get so much practice hitting things that they have perfect skills. They hit every time no matter what ship you are in or how fast you are going.
If you are in a a frigate, the only chance you have is to get to the gate/station and jump/dock before you get blown up. Did that in a rax the other day after accidentally jumping into Orvolle from PF-346. Good thing TS people were like "WTFN00b sh1+ are you doing, f00, you are ebil pirate and j00 not allowed in there. So I booked it back to the gate, made it through with 70% structure in my rax.

Does'nt work, tried it earlier. Also it seems the sentries can attack from over 150k now. One of the sentries that fired on me was 165k away.

I could be wrong, as I don't make a habit of attacking people around sentry guns(too busy mining veld in 1.0 :D) but I think that thier range is 150km from the object they are protecting. Any of you more piraty types know for sure? ------------------ Silver Night Director - Production and Science (\_/)This is Bunny. Sentry turret 1 = 150km Sentry turret 2 = 300km? Sentry turret 3 = 500km? It's something like that, the upgraded ones have increased range/dmg. --

The range on sentries is borked right now. I got shot from 375km and I wasn't engaged at a closer range prior to the attack. And it was in a 0.4 sec system.

That's really unfortunate.
...I was looking forward to seeing pirates using this tactic and remote sensor boosting the turrets right back up again. ----------- Fighting for the ideals of freespace, posthuman ethics, and rock & roll. |

Sentry guns are the most atmosphere-destroying features in this game - uberuberguns that have no tracking, nothing can destroy it, cannot be jammed or dampened and if they are soooo cheap to deploy, why arent they deployed everywhere, in each belt of 0.0 systems too???
Face it - sentry guns are there to help the n00bs to get started - but they are a bad and very atmosphere-destroying solution. Sentry guns killed more ships than all players together!!! What is most unfair with these guns is that a n00b-pirate in a Kessi is destroyed in 1 second, while the oldscool elite pirate knows how to deal with the guns. These guns made it nearly impossible for new pirates to start the pirate career in a small frigate.
But like all the $hit CCP "balanced" sentry guns can be used. When the game started Xpohoc and Tenacha destroyed tons of ships with using a passive targeter to trick carebears. Tenacha locked the traffic (in a poor cruiser) and Xpohoc fired (equipped with passive targeter) from 60 km. 50% battleships fought back (Tenacha) and died to sentry gun fire - than you CCP...
I still think there should be an "empire" where all weapons are simply deactivated when entering. This area should be considered as "n00b-area". This would be 1.0-0.5. This solution is pretty realistic when you consider that there where and are citys in USA where you have to give your small firearm to the sheriff when entering the city. 0.1-0.4 should have NO SENTRYS! But Concord ships. These Concord ships should be destroyable for pirates - but Concord should send in more and more the longer the pirate stays in in the system. In 0.4 Concord should send a lot in a short amount of time. In 0.1 Concord should send less.
Problem: the carebears!!! The want a safe area! But they forget that they only feel safe in 1.0 - they are not safe!!! The truth is that TDG made billions of ISK IN YULAI with instaganks (suicidal caracals). This are really easy kills, easy money and again pirates have to thank CCP for making it so easy to get free ISK! Wheater CCP nor the carebears never ever listen to what pirates say about sentry guns (while pirates know the most about the guns, probably more than the DEVs ). So, what is left to say??? Sentry guns are our friends - it¦s stupid, unrealistic and destroys the atmosphere in EVE, but not a pirate problem, end of transmission.

I think making sentries jammable and dampable again is the way to go. All it takes is a clever anti-pirate task force to ensure that things get fixed anyway, and ensure that said pirates have to tank the guns while dealing with said task force anyway.
Come on, CCP, even this anti-pirate says to give the rats a chance. Or is pirating gonna be reduced to 0.0 where they'll have to dodge alliance blobs and other pirate corps looking for easy kills? ----------- Fighting for the ideals of freespace, posthuman ethics, and rock & roll. |

Just tank the sentries. It's easy as stealing candy from children (and just about as boring really).
