So..with the coming of shiva I began to wonder, here we are getting new items and new looks, but what about eve's music? I realize most people turn it off after a while of listening to it, but each time I reinstall eve and that music is playing again, I get all nostolgic (sic) and miss the good ole' days of being a newb :)
I was just wondering if you guys hired on the music composer for a second round to make more music for shiva?

Edited by: MaiLina KaTar on 07/10/2004 09:50:45 Maybe RealX will hook us up with some tracks sometime in future. In the meantime I can recommend some of the ambient radio stations on winamp:
digitally imported
DroneZone
BlueMars
CryoSleep
They all play very nice ambient tracks, most of them fitting into the game as if they were made for it.
edit:
Those are winamp links so they might not work on your machine. Just copy the links (rightclick, copy hyperlink) and add them in your media library or just look them up in the Internet Radio list (should be easy to find if you order by genre).
Of course Eve radio is a great alternative aswell, but to be honest I don't think most of the music fits in the game athmosphere so I prefer to tune in for some of the shows and play ambient stuff in the meantime.

There's buttloads of music in the client software that isn't played in the game for some reason. All they have to do is enable those extra songs and it would probably satify most people. --------- Kitten Hearder Evolution made my sig Less Entertaining than your's. |

I'm not a fan of some of those as much as I am the set that come active with the game. The others aren't bad, but you can definitely hear how inconsistent they are with the rest of the set. That said, I think pretty much any of the music done for EVE completely blows away anything else out there.
The only other MMOG I've really been impressed with, music wise, was Lineage 2 (never played it though!). They had several of their soundtrack available for download before release, and it was done with a real orchestra. It's amazing how powerful that can make a game's music. Would be interesting to see what Mr. Hallur could do with that.

Edited by: Karunel on 07/10/2004 14:01:58 Tbh I can't really understand why all the Amarr, Gallente, Minmatar, Caldari, and Rock songs aren't in the playlist, there're some of the best songs made for this game among them (gallente 1 anyone?)
But, truth is, I'd want some new music. *Begs @ RealX*

I love the stuff that wasn't included, like the race soundtracks, eve rocks, etc. However, I can see why they were left out. They really break with the ambient style of the ingame soundtrack.
Would make great battle music tho!

What they need is for those songs to start up whenever you go into combat mode. --------- Kitten Hearder Evolution made my sig Less Entertaining than your's. |

Uhm, because it's a little bit ... much. :) Nice name, by the way. :) I'll agree though with the other person in the thread, the other ones really bust up the ambientness of the music. I remember when I first started playing EVE, the music came up, and my jaw fell open. The song was "Primordial Star Clouds", and remains my favorite of the EVE song lineup to date. "Red Glowing Dust" is a close second. :)

ugh, the only thing I really can't stand about EVE is the music. I tried every song hoping for one I liked and then set volume to 0, permanently. I just wish you could turn off the insane babble in stations too. Its extrememely annoying when you're running two clients and one is in station. I guess I should rename the files or something - but a little option button would be appreciated.
So, new music? YES please - as long as its nothing like the current stuff...

I still think anything by Juno Reactor is great as ingame music. Works really good for us minmatars. And if you're a sneaky bastard like me you can always rip the ingame music from Jumpgate :-)

Bump for more Eve music!
*Edit* WHere do you find those other tracks, anyway? Want to check them out, but I can't locate them in my Eve directory... or the in-game ones either for that matter.

digitally imported
DroneZone
BlueMars
Of course Eve radio is a great alternative aswell, but to be honest I don't think most of the music fits in the game athmosphere so I prefer to tune in for some of the shows and play ambient stuff in the meantime.
these are great! thanks for the links Mai
