So I was planning to rat in a Dominix. My alliance mates talked me into a Megathron. I'll be ratting in 0.0 Gurista space. I only have T1 hybrids and my AWU is currently III. Rest is T2. With these factors in mind, I'd love to see some good railboat fittings for the Megathron that I can adapt or use straight up in my ratting.

Never gone ratting before, but it can't be too far from mission-running. Of course, I have been wrong (many times!) before, but here goes anyway...
My Mega fit for L4 solo missions:
High:
7x 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun
1x Drone Link Augmentor I
Medium:
3x Cap Recharger II
1x Sensor Booster II (with Scan Resolution script - 60% boost to targeting speed)
Low:
4x Armor (mission-specific) Hardener II (usually 2x primary and 2x secondary, but sometimes 2x primary, 1x secondary, 1x tertiary)
1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
1x Large Armor Repairer II
1x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Can also remove EANM II, adding another MFS II for a bit more DPS.
Rig:
1x Auxiliary Nano Pump I
2x Capacitor Control Circuit I
Drones:
1x flight of five T2 Mediums
1x flight of one T2 Light, two T2 Mediums, two T1 Heavies

Sorry above poster, ratting is like missioning against 3 battleship rats. So wayyyyyyyy less tank and wayyyyyyy more gank.

I know the OP can't use t2 guns or probably sentries, but this is about an appropriate mix of tank/gank. OP probably won't need the Co-Pro due to lack of t2 guns, and may want to drop two omni drone links for two tracking comps and then switch the gardes out for wardens. Guristas like to orbit around 50km so enter a belt, drop the sentries and pew pew away. Tank is more than enough and personally I only use 2 hardeners and a single mar on my ratting BS.
