Just got back from the movie, and I liked it. Lots of fun.
It even has a plot and character development, unlike a certain other film.
Plus Scarlet vs. Baroness, a fight we all win.
I was a little let down by the CGI, but I don't know if that was a budget thing or a an allusion to its cartoon roots. Also, Cobra Commander's mask was stuid; Destro's was cool though. Eccleston's gonna have to wear green paint the whole time in the sequels.

I was thinking of going to see this one, and was waiting for a review. So, i'll probably go and see it this weekend. The commercials special effects didn't seem too bad.
And who wants the bad guys to look cool, because if they are then we(The Viewers) actually start rooting for them(The Bad guys) and feel let down when the bad guys lose.

I just got back from seeing it with a friend who's somewhat of a GIJOE geek, and we both liked it. Biggest change from most of the comics is Cobra Commanders origin, and I like this version better than the comic.
Only thing we really noticed to complain about was how they shoved a lot of the stuff from the comics in slightly out of sequence.
Overall.. good movie. Even the Wayans humor was kept to low levels so it was actually funny instead of stupid. Absolutely everything is subjective. |

No, the fx aren't bad, but they aren't up to Transformers' level. There's a certain shinniness to them that seemed aged, but that could just be me.
I think you'll just have to see Cobra Commander's mask to get my point. He ends up looking like one of Anubis' super soldiers.
Oh, and best scene: Scarlet in a tank top.

That's the exact opposite to what most reports say.
They're saying bad story, good CG

They solve that by making a sequal by making the villians the heros. the GI Joe resistance captures and reprograms several Cobra operatives and sends them back in time to stop Cobra from forming.... hmm, where have I heard this idea before.... On an unrelated note, Kneel before Zod! |

Upon your review I might actually go see it, for I thought their choice of some of the actors was horrible and it looked cheesy as a hell.
But if it sucks I will be a sad panda.

Which actors? I'll let you know how I think they did.
There's some cheese, of course; it's based off of a cartoon after all.

The guy that plays Duke has annoyed me in everything I have seen him in. You already said the Waynes brother was kept under wraps so I guess that will work. Also the bio armor I thought was a cheesy concept.

Its a movie for the people who don't care about cliche bad guys and incredibly stupid mistakes done by the latter.... That and a predictable storyline.
To be honest, it was one hell of a let down but if you shut your brain off its a fine watch.

The first one is a personal thing, so I can't really comment, other than to say he was good in Public Enemies for the 30 seconds he was on screen
I don't think it's bio armor, but I can tell you that I want, NOW. There's some cheese to it, but it's no different than the stuff in Crysis, though not as cool looking. It did look too much like Halo armor for my taste.
But for two hours of mindless fun which actually tried to have a point at times, it's worth seeing. Most of us here spend too much time thinking anyway, so it helps to turn off the brain for a bit and just enjoy the explosions.

One of my friends has also claimed it was better than expected. He said he liked it better than Transformers 1 (Like me he refuses to see Trans 2). I may actually check it out if I get a chance this week but I'm still holding onto my gift card for District 19.

District 9.
Also Transformers 2 wasn't terrible. Helps if you DL it to skip the crap though.

2 words, autobot heaven.
I do agree that movie was nothing without the fight scenes, infact I would have been happy to see the director scrap everything but the fight scenes and it just being a 15 minute montage of awesome fighting.

My friend, who's a sci fi fanatic (he's very picky about what he likes. He'll attack you for liking Transformers), saw a sneak peak and says it is a masterpiece. I'm trying to derail the thread.
