Quite clearly, PvP, as it stands, isn't enough to keep even the most bloodthirsty players active and neither do said players believe that CCP can keep their word with regard to Shiva and the features we will see when Shiva finally goes "live".
Can we have some idea what features will be available when Shiva goes "live"?
I'm unable to get onto the Shiva server to test it out so I have no clue what is available for testing; what is available would be a big clue as to what is most likely to be included when Shiva goes "live".
I'd really like to be able to see for myself what is likely to be available as soon as Shiva goes "live"; due to CCP's misinformation, I've already had to renew my account for one more subscription than I expected while waiting for Shiva and I'd really like to know if Shiva is really worth waiting for at the "live" stage or whether I should go dormant until all the features are in place.

To be honest I don't think it's worth it until late Q1 2005.
If Shiva does ship in 27 days (November 3rd) I'll be amazed since it's only now being tested properly.
Once it does ship, a lot more new bugs will be found, petitions will flow, accounts will be cancelled and the majority will grit their teeth and hope to make it until things are ironed out.
However (current/former) m0o will show up on EVE FanFest

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 07/10/2004 11:06:28 I've been on the test server since early the 5th and somehow I'm still positive.
Currently (or at least till yesterdays patch of it) the server lacked any real new content other then the space-accesible market and the new UI, both of which already show a few bugs but in general look very nice.
For me, lvl 4 agents, complexes and more importantly pos and territorial control will be the key factors. I still ahve some hopes that the pos system will enhance territorial control.
Edit:

He ccp, how about throwing the single most influential corp in Eve history a going-dormant party there ? Pity I wont see it, but you guys owe m0o something and you know it

Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 07/10/2004 11:13:03 It's not the boredom I was highlighting, really.
More the lack of faith people have in promises made about Shiva and the time it will take for these promises to come to fruition.
From what Riddari says, November 3rd looks HIGHLY optimistic and, if as Rod says is true, can we really expect much to be delivered at that date?
November 3rd is a really big day for a LOT of players who are hoping Shiva rekindles their passion for Eve.
I'd rather know now that it's going to be delayed and/or a partial release.

Ah so it's more like a hobby for you guys. Now I get the point! "Teh suX! Lezz g0 and come back l4t3rrrr!"
Seriously just be sure to come back cause the corpHQ forums will be pretty boring without idiots trying to join you and other idiots trying to flame you cause you spanked em. Those threads are always a great read for an ordinary mortal like me
Err... I'm hijacking the thread... no wait:
I don't know if this is actually a sign of times. I still have very high hopes for POS to spice up PvP in many ways. That's because I believe that a large part of the boredom in PvP comes from the fact that no corp in the game has a home that one can attack. It's like Command & Conquer without bases

Edited by: Hakera on 07/10/2004 11:16:37 I hardly think that the fact m0o are going into hibernation sounds like the end of all things.
Of course people get bored when playing MMORPG's, Your playing the same game for many months you need a break and time away just to have a change.
Shiva I doubt will not be anywhere as bad as castor was, from my testing of it and moon mining introduced today I am very impressed. There are a few features which I wanted which have not made it (yet) to shiva such as a consentual war option.
Some people dont wont to ride out the rough seas right after shiva is ported, thats fine, a lot of people will baton down the hatches and wait for a few patches down the line when stability and game balance is restored after much feedback and data mining.
I hardly think the skies are falling however Josh!

Edited by: Nac MacFeegle on 07/10/2004 11:21:56 I'll say it once, I'll say it again...
If you want to complain about devs giving misinformation and ignoring a playerbase, and patches blowing up in peoples faces, go play Star Wars Galaxies for a few months.
You'll run screaming back to EVE.

Hakera,
it's more about being fed up of empty promises. I've been planning to write a large posting named "EVE: Going critical" for a while where I throw together points about the overall handling of EVE and it's players.
Wondering if I should publish it after or before Nov 3rd...
As stated, probably most m0o members are or will be in other corporations, many will rough it out... when it hits, we're allready nearly a year late.

Edited by: Sally on 07/10/2004 11:24:38 Joshua, you really need to get some patience.
And m0o is not an indication for the game in any type. They are just a small piece of a big puzzle like you and me too.
Rather than spending my time on some theoretical thoughts on Shiva I prefer to play the game is it is right now and I'll log in to Shiva when it ships. I'll be suprised, I'll adapt, I'll have fun.
I have the feeling that you want to know how it will work right now.
Hell, I even bet some of you guys are trying PvP on Chaos/Singularity to perform better on TQ.
My condolences. -- Stories: #1 --

Take a look at this.
You may now return to Carebear Land, also known as Shiva.
EDIT - Sally, I'm doing the best I can to do just what you said, but this pic has got me really ****ed. -
