"You killed that man! Killed him dead!" Oh i'm terribly sorry, shouldn't i have? "No! It's against the law! You murderer!" I do say i'm terribly flustered, you see, i did not know of this rule. "Ah it's ok then."
I think that explains it

I sort of feel for him...
back when i Had my original eve character in early 2005,
I paid soemone 400m isk for a 13m sp character, not only was the account given to me. but i never once accessed it.
so it sat there dormant for 3 moths till an old eve friend show back up in eve and had restarted. so I gave him the character/acount to have for ever and to transfer it.
meanwhile over 2 year later, he tries to login with that character and finds its been banned. the original owner tried to get access back. once the gms made thier minds up they allowed him to keep the account. ( he shoulda transfered it asap imo )
then as i try to contact him i find i am blocked from all forms of communication. why? because he blamed me for the temp ban.
the moral of the story is. YOURE fault for not transfering the character when you had the chance.

Originally by: Syno Joe On Fri 6 Aug I sold Punchy McFist for 1.5 Bil on the forums in an effort recoupe some of my losses I log on, on Sat to find out that that account had been hacked to and my 1.5 bil isk had been stolen.
I petitioned this straight away however I still have access to this account and a GM is yet to reply.
I realise I did a silly thing 10 months ago but does this warrant a ban, does anyone else feel that the petition system is utter rubbish and needs to be replaced by something abit more responsive we do PAY to play this game after all and shouldn't we expect a little support.
I think its abit sick that I am the one who got robbed and brought it to the attention of the GM's only to be punished for a minor infraction, if its a matter of the transfer fee that CCP didnt get then I am totaly willing to pay it.

I then log another petition with an alt from my second account Punchy McFist explaining again what had happened and that I would really like it if I could have my account that I have just paid for back.
You already had a petition on the same account about a hacked account, so probably the GM think it is the same petition.
Selling a character just after you had another account hacked maybe wasn't so smart.
You probably have a undetected keylogger.

Originally by: Syno Joe So the fact that I have had all my assets stolen isn't punishment enough, I haven't actually hurt anyone, in all walks of life there is flexibility, even a criminal gets a leaner sentence for the first offence. Its nice to see that those who have replied so promptly have put alot of thought into their replies, not pompous automatons at all, :)
I hope none of you fall foul of the rules
Interesting argument as probably it don't hold true.
CCP now has a big problem in his hands thank to you.
You have traded several characters from an account that wasn't yours. Technically they should reverse all those character and isk transfers as they have no way, beside your word,t hat there wasn't some for of foul play involved.
Note that the original owner can return to EVE and legitimately pretend his account back, with his original characters.
All that really the GM know is that you have used an account that wasn't your for months and you have done a lot of character trading from it.
Not a nice situation to clear and not something that can be cleared fast or without problems.

Is it to harsh - no, the rules are there for you to see and you agreeded to abide by them. The system in place works and allows an action to be tied to a customer complaint and gm intervention.
You broke the rule - don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Awww Nuts. |

Like what? A rush-job system that will make people lose their stuff left right and centre? It is responsive for the simple matters; it is not responsive (by which I suppose you mean "fast") for the important matters, but nor should it be considering how complicated these things are and how important it is that they get things right.
There's a rather simple and easy-to-implement system for this. A rep of CCP travels to each and every account holder's home and interviews them, in-depth, about Eve and their account history. If they can't recall each and every action any of their characters has ever undertaken, then they're a hacker and the rep will shoot them in the head with a low-caliber handgun, multiple times.
It's important that the CCP rep assures that the individual is dead, but it is equally important that they don't make a mess. There's no reason to disgust the hacker's family by making a gory mess of blood and brain matter.
So remember, there's no reason to fear a visit from CCP if you are a valid user. All you have to do is be able to recall every skill training decision, market transaction, undock, ISK delivery, ISK reception, NPC bounty receipt, Player bounty receipt, hostile engagement, jump gate activation, docking attempt, clone update, jump clone transaction, jump clone move, and ammo expense. That really isn't too much to ask from an honest player.
And the gun pressed against your forehead should only make it easier.

This is the important part. This whole scenario might theoretically have been a sniping attempt from the original owner of the account. Let's look at it from that perspective:
1. Adam feels like testing a new kind of griefing. 2. Adam secures some of his more valuable assets for safekeeping on another account. 3. Adam sets up an auction for a character on his account. 4. Billy wins the auction for Adam's character. 5. Adam suggests a trade of the whole account to Billy. Billy accepts. Adam smiles. 6. Adam lets Billy have the details of the account, and goes on vacation. 7. Billy enjoys the account and plays around with it. Meanwhile, Adam and his friends giggle like little girls. 8. Adam returns from vacation and reports his account as being hacked. 9. Billy loses all his accounts. Adam has his account returned to him. 10. Billy whines on forums. -----
